OSIJEK: Croatian director Dalibor Matanić started filming the second season of his acclaimed TV series The Silence / Šutnja, which is produced by Croatia’s Drugi Plan and the Croatian Radiotelevision in coproduction with Germany’s Beta Film, Ukraine’s Star Media and OLL.TV, as well as ZDF/ARTE.

WARSAW: The first documentary about Robert Lewandowski, one of the greatest strikers in the history of football, is currently in postproduction and will premiere internationally on Amazon Prime Video in 2023. The film, which doesn’t have a title yet, is directed by Maciej Kowalczuk and was commissioned by Amazon Prime Video from Papaya Films, one the largest production houses in Poland.

SOFIA: The privately financed Bulgarian/Hungarian Axis of Life directed by Atanas Hristoskov and produced by Invictus in coproduction with the Ganges Indian-Hungarian Cultural Foundation, is one of the first productions approved for cash rebate in Bulgaria since the country launched its cash rebate scheme in January 2022. The project expects to receive over 100,000 EUR, which is 25% of the qualification costs during the shooting in Bulgaria in the early autumn of 2022.

BUDAPEST: Balint Dániel Sós is currently shooting Minden rendben (working title Growing Down), a drama starring Szabolcs Hajdu. The film is supported by the Incubator Programme of the National Film Institute – Hungary.

PRAGUE: Czech director Jiří Havelka is currently finishing production on his feature film Gardener (working title) / Zahradník, which is estimated to be finished in 2023.

PRAGUE: Ondřej Vavrečka is currently finishing production while already editing his docufiction 1+1+1, which is estimated to be finished in 2023. The Czech/Slovak project was presented at MIA Rome 2022 and in the New Visions Market of the Ji.hlava IDFF 2022.

NICOSIA: Romantic comedy The Islander, directed by Stelana Kliris and produced by Meraki Films from Cyprus and US Uinta Productions, has entered the final stage of production. The film starring Harry Connick Jr. was entirely shot in Cyprus, the regions of Peyia and Nicosia.

PRAGUE: Czech director/writer Apolena Rychlíková is currently in postproduction with her documentary The Limits of Europe / Hranice Evropy, which is estimated to be finished in 2023.

VILNIUS: Lithuanian director Ignas Jonynas is currently filming his third feature film Border Wall / Siena, which is supported by the Lithuanian Film Centre.

ZAGREB: Croatian screenwriter/director Silvio Mirošničenko is currently filming Grandpa Guru, a long documentary produced by Croatia’s Točka kulture and coproduced by Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Produkcija Scena.

VILNIUS: Lithuanian writer/director Eglė Vertelytė started shooting her sophomore feature after her successful debut with Miracle / Stebuklas (2018). The comedy drama Tasty / Gardutė has already been acquired by the London-based sales agent Film Republic.

PRAGUE: Czech director/writer Michal Hogenauer is currently in postproduction with his sophomore feature Calm in the Canopy / V korunách stromů je klid (working title), which is estimated to be finished in 2023.

PRAGUE: Czech director/writer Tomáš Klein is currently in postproduction with his feature film A Sensitive Person / Citlivý člověk, which is based on the eponymous novel by Jáchym Topol. The project is estimated to be finished in 2023.

BELGRADE: Young Serbian filmmaker Dean Radovanović has started the production of his debut feature Second Hand People / Polovni ljudi. The film is being made as a Serbian/Estonian coproduction, supported by Film Center Serbia and the Estonian Film Institute.

SOFIA: Following a summer/autumn shooting carried out in three steps in Bulgaria, London and Beverly Hills, the new dramatic thriller The Wheels of Heaven, produced by Dessy Tenekedjieva’s Sofia based Black Sea Film in association with UK’s Goldfinch, entered postproduction in London.

BELGRADE: Belgrade-based Firefly Productions has started the production of the TV series Frust, a dark comedy thriller directed by Academy Award-winner Danis Tanović. The 6 x 55-minute series is created by Srđan Vuletić and Gabor Krigler.
