SOFIA: Mostly known for his documentaries, the Bulgarian director Svetoslav Draganov started shooting his debut feature Waterfall CEO on 23 March 2019. The film is a Bulgarian/Romanian coproduction supported by the Bulgarian National Film Center and the Romanian Film Centre.

TBILISI: The established Georgian alternative musician and writer/director Konstantine Kalandadze is in postproduction with his debut feature The Drummer. The premiere is planned for an A-class film festival in 2019.

SKOPJE: The Macedonian/Kosovan/Albanian feature film An Unforgettable Spring in Forgotten Village / Nezaboravna prolet vo zaboraveno selo by Kushtrim Bekteshi will premiere in Macedonia on 29 March 2019. Macedonian producer Sasho Pavlovski from the Skopje-based Manufaktura Production coproduced the film together with Albanian Ska-ndal Production, Kosovan Media&Film and Macedonian Skupi Festival.

WARSAW: The crime thriller series The Pleasure Principle written by Maciej Maciejewski and directed by Dariusz Jabłoński is the first international drama series originated, shot and made as a coproduction between three Eastern European countries (Poland, Czech Republic and Ukraine). The series is produced by Poland’s Apple Film Production in coproduction with Canal+Poland, the Czech Television and Star Media Ukraine.

LJUBLJANA: Vinko Möderndorfer started shooting the Slovenian/Serbian coproduction Deadlock / Zastoj on 22 March 2019. The story focuses on a tragic event which brings together two married couples from different social backgrounds.

TBILISI: Georgian director Aleksandre Rekhviashvili is in postproduction with Reviving the Past, a long documentary that he's shot in Georgia since 2017, when he made the documentary Chubchik Puppets And Etc (produced by Rati Rekhviashvili).

VILNIUS: Vilnius and Kaunas stand for one German city in the BBC series The Rise of the Nazis / Nacių iškilimas, which is currently filming in Lithuania. The series has already applied to the incentives scheme.

SARAJEVO: Bosnian and Herzegovinian Oscar-winning director Danis Tanović, whose latest success Death in Sarajevo (SCCA/pro.ba, 2016) won the Silver Bear – Jury Prize and the FIPRESCI prize at the 66th Berlinale, started shooting The Postcard Killings, a UK production starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Connie Nielsen.

VILNIUS: The acclaimed Lithuanian director Donatas Ulvydas is currently in postproduction with the documentary The State Secret / Valstybės paslaptis on the Lithuanian president Dalia Gybauskaitė. The premiere of this independent film is set for 12 April 2019.

BUCHAREST: Icon production, the company behind Andrei Ujică’s The Autobiography of Nicolae Ceaușescu, is in early postproduction with Eugen Jebeleanu’s debut feature Inside / Înăuntru (working title), a drama exploring gay life in contemporary Romania.

ZAGREB: Zagreb stands for a German city in the Netflix series Medical Police, a spin-off from the series Children’s Hospital, which is currently filming in Croatia. The series has already applied to the incentives scheme.

SKOPJE: Macedonian director Igor Ivanov started shooting his new feature film Homo as a coproduction between Macedonia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovenia and Kosovo on 13 March 2019. A five-week shooting schedule is planned, including more than 20 locations in Skopje.

BELGRADE: Serbian director Milica Tomović started shooting her debut feature The Celts / Kelti in Belgrade on 8 March 2019. The film is supported by Film Center Serbia.

BRATISLAVA: Young Slovak director Michal Blaško is currently in preproduction with his debut feature Victim. This Slovak/Czech/Ukrainian coproduction was selected for Cinéfondation’s Atelier in Cannes. Its shooting is set for the autumn of 2019.

TALLINN: A Film Estonia is currently in production with the long animated feature Raggie / Sipsik directed by Meelis Arulepp and Karsten Kiilerich. The film is based on an Estonian children’s book by Eno Raud and it is a coproduction with Danish A.Film Production.

BUCHAREST: The third film in the Netflix series A Christmas Prince directed by John Schultz and starring Rose McIver and Ben Lamb, is currently shooting in Romania. A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby has already applied to the rebate scheme launched in Romania in 2018.
