VALLETTA: Malta’s first-ever opera-film Blat: The Island Fortress, directed by Alan Fenech, premiered in local cinemas on 24 June 2022.

The shooting of the live-action feature Lunatic has just been wrapped up on the main pier in the Slovenian seaside town of Piran. Written and directed by Igor Šterk, Lunatic is the first Slovenian film attempting to tackle an autobiography of an ordinary family, but with a father dedicated to something extremely unusual.
Debut feature and student film completion grants were announced by Film Center Serbia on 10 June 2022 and the other four categories were announced on 21 June 2022.
CLUJ-NAPOCA: Victor Canache’s debut feature The Goat and Her Three Kids / Capra cu trei iezi has its world premiere in the Romanian Days competition at the 21st edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF), running in Cluj-Napoca 17-26 June 2022. Czech Republic 23-06-2022KARLOVY VARY: Geoffrey Rush will receive the Crystal Globe for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema, while Benicio Del Toro will be presented with the Festival President's Award at the 56th edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, which will take place 1-9 July 2022.
PAPHOS: A total of 30 short films and documentaries will screen outdoors at the 7th Paphos International Film Festival from 24 to 26 June 2022.
