TALLINN: Estonian director German Golub is currently in production with his debut feature Our Erika / Meie Erika. This Estonian/Lithuanian/Latvian coproduction tells the story of Olympic track cyclist Erika Salumäe, who won Estonia's first Olympic gold after the country regained its independence.

Film Center Serbia announced the following production grants for debut features, short animated films and student films on 31 July 2024.

LJUBLJANA: The fourth feature film by the Slovenian director Klemen Dvornik has been acquired by the Danish sales agent LevelK. The children's film Block 5, which is a Slovenian/Czech/Croatian/Serbian coproduction, will have its world premiere in the Kids Screenings section of the Locarno Film Festival (7 – 17 August 2024) on 11 August 2024.

The following grants were announced by the Estonian Film Institute in 2024 (January– June). Part of the grants will be financed in two stages, in 2024 and 2025.

TARTU: Eighteen films are screening at the Tartu Love Film Festival Tartuff from 5 to 10 August 2024.

PODGORICA: For the first time in Montenegro, headphones were used for the screenings at the 10th Green Montenegro International Film Festival (GMIFF), to preserve the biodiversity of the Durmitor National Park.

POTSDAM: The Art of Negotiating Agreements for Film & TV, Info Sessions about Series’ Women and Audiovisual Women, and the workshop Play, Promote, Publish are among the upcoming activities organised by the Erich Pommer Institute.

ŠIBENIK: The first edition of the Croatian International Film Festival (CIFF) will be held in Šibenik, on the Dalmatian Coast part of Croatia, from 8 to 11 August 2024. CIFF is created by American film professional Ella Mische, who was born in Croatia.

BUDAPEST: Pay-TV operator Canal+ has launched a branded streaming service in Hungary in partnership with Hungarian telco 4iG.
