TALLINN: The sci-fi thriller Last Sentinel by Estonian Academy Award nominated Tanel Toom has been sold by Altitude to Vertical for North American distribution. The film is a British/Estonian/German coproduction.
GRANTS: Prague Audiovisual Fund Distributes 238,000 EUR to Six International and Domestic Projects
Czech Republic 22-02-2023PRAGUE: The Prague Audiovisual Fund has distributed 238,000 EUR / 5.65 m CZK among six films, including international and domestic productions, feature films and documentaries. Len Wiseman’s Ballerina with Ana de Armas and Keanu Reeves, received the biggest grant of 84,300 EUR / 2 m CZK.
BERLIN: European producers can apply to the 12th edition of the Emerging Producers programme till 31 March 2023, as announced at Berlinale’s European Film Market, where the Emerging Producers 2023 were introduced.
TALLINN: Women’s Nights Film Festival (NÖFF), a small sister of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, will focus its 5th edition on women’s health. The festival will take place in the modern blackbox cinema in Rapla and Märjamaa Rahvamaja, Estonia from 8 to 12 March 2023.
PRAGUE: Twelve projects in development with 32 participants have been selected for the 5th edition of the CEE Animation Workshop, whose first module will take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia 27 February - 4 March 2023.

Press releases 22-02-2023Seventeen up-and-coming European documentary film producers – holders of the title EMERGING PRODUCER 2023 – were introduced to the Berlin film festival guests at the event hosted by the Ji.hlava IDFF together with the Berlinale’s European Film Market.
The CEE Animation Workshop is entering its fifth edition with the announcement of selected participants and their animated projects in development. The call for applications was once again open to international applicants, while still maintaining focus on the CEE region and low-production capacity countries.
BUCHAREST: Mickey Rourke is currently shooting in Oradea, in Northwest Romania, the independent drama 21 Rubies / 21 rubini, directed by Romanian film director and Orthodox priest Ciprian Mega. The cast includes Anthony Delon and Elisabetta Pellini alongside popular Romanian actors.
PRAGUE: Czech Viktor Prášil received the award for best sound, together with Frank Kruse, Markus Stemler, Lars Ginzel and Stefan Korte, for All Quiet on the Western Front at the 76th edition of the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA).
