The following grants were announced by the Czech Film Fund on 8 March 2023

VILNIUS: Twenty projects (including a guest project) have been selected for the Coming Soon pitching session at Meeting Point – Vilnius, which will be held 20 – 22 March 2023 within the 28th Vilnius International Film Festival Kino Pavasaris (16 – 26 March 2023).

CLUJ-NAPOCA: Filmmakers from Ukraine, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Serbia, Moldova, Greece, Turkey and Georgia can submit their projects to the 10th edition of the international coproduction programme Transilvania Pitch Stop, which will be held in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, 15- 17 June 2023 within the 22nd Transilvania IFF (9 – 18 June 2023).

TALLINN: The last part of the Estonian/German/Latvian/Lithuanian trilogy Melchior the Apothecary directed by Elmo Nüganen will be released in Estonia on 14 April 2023.

PRAGUE: CANAL+ Action is available in the Czech Republic and Slovakia starting 1 March 2023.

BUCHAREST: Cristi Puiu’s new feature film Sântandreiul lupilor received the biggest grant of approximately 711,000 EUR / 3.5 m RON from the Romanian Film Centre (CNC) at its only batch for 2022, which was announced on 3 March 2023.

VALLETTA: Hallmark’s mystery film The Dancing Detective: The Deadly Tango starring Lacey Chabert and Will Kemp is currently shooting in Malta. The premiere is set for later in 2023.

The Ji.hlava International Documentary Film festival brings to Bucharest five documentary films from its 2022 competition sections on March 7–11.

BUCHAREST: The acclaimed Romanian film director Stere Gulea started shooting The Moromete Family 3 / Moromeții 3 on 1 March 2023. The film is the third part of what started in 1987 as a one-time adaptation of the famous novel Moromeții by Marin Preda, directed by Stere Gulea, which was followed by a sequel in 2018, Moromete Family: On the Edge of Time / Moromeții 2 directed again by Gulea.
