WARSAW: Five participants from Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic/Slovakia and Ukraine are taking part in the 3rd Pop Up Film Residency Visegrad, which started in Poland.
The highly anticipated short animated film "About a Cow" has been officially selected to compete in the Pardi di domani at the 76th Locarno Film Festival. Directed by Pavla Baštanová and produced by Mária Môťovská from MAUR film (Czech Republic) and Sereina Gabathuler from Dschoint Ventschr Filmproduktion (Switzerland), the film is set to captivate audiences with its imaginative and playful collage of images depicting the life of cows.
KVIFF Eastern Promises, the festival's Industry section and film market, has the exciting mission of bridging the gap between talented filmmakers and their potential partners, festivals and audiences. “Just like every year, we’ve tried to curate a nice mix of projects from around the regions, a solid mix of documentary and feature films, and we now hope that they’ll be able to find new partners to complete their films and start on the festival circuit." Hugo Rosák, the Head of the KVIFF Film Industry Office, commented.
PRAGUE: Streamers including both domestic and foreign streamers, will be obliged under a new plan put forward by the Czech Ministry of Culture to allocate 2% of their revenues to the Czech Film Fund. They will join cinemas, broadcasters and other content platforms.
Drama Series The Day of the Jackal Starring Eddie Redmayne Shoots in Hungary and Croatia

The 10th edition of the Venice Gap-Financing Market (September 1 - September 3, 2023), organised as part of the Venice Production Bridge, will take place during the forthcoming 80th Venice International Film Festival (August 30th - September 9th, 2023) and will offer selected projects from Europe and around the world the opportunity to close their international financing, through one-to-one meetings with international decision-makers.
STRASBOURG: Sixteen majority and minority coproductions from FNE partner countries are among the 33 projects receiving Eurimages Co-production support at the second session in 2023. The results were announced on 3 July 2023.
ŽILINA: The Swiss production Armat directed by Elodie Dermange received the award for Best Animated Short at the 16th edition of the Fest Anča International Animation Festival, which took place in Žilina 29 June - 2 July 2023. The only Slovak multimedia festival focused on animated films primarily for adult audiences was centred this year on the theme of Utopias.
