PRODUCTION: Romanian Director Radu Muntean In Postproduction with New Feature Film
Romania 14-01-2021BUCHAREST: The acclaimed Romanian director Radu Muntean is currently in postproduction with his seventh feature film Întregalde, which he shot 6 November - 7 December 2020. This independent project is produced by Multimedia Est, the regular outlet behind Muntean's films.
TRIESTE: Twelve films from across the CEE, Baltic and Balkan region will screen in the feature film competition of the 32nd Trieste Film Festival, which runs 21 – 30 January 2021.
BRATISLAVA: The three-day script development workshop MIDPOINT Intensive SK is accepting applications through 11 February 2021. The workshop will take place 30 March to 1 April within the Industry Days of the International Film Festival FEBIOFEST Bratislava.
BUCHAREST: Internationally acclaimed documentary director Alexander Nanau has turned down the “Cultural Merit” medal from Romanian President Klaus Iohannis on the occasion of Romania’s Day of National Culture celebrated on 15 January 2021. The Emmy-award winning director is protesting the lack of government support for the film industry in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
FNE Interview: dok.incubator Calls for Ambitious Documentary Films for 2021 Anniversary Edition
Czech Republic 13-01-2021PRAGUE: The international documentary rough-cut workshop dok.incubator will celebrate its 10th anniversary with three one-week workshops taking place in April, June and September 2021 under the evolving Covid-19 circumstances. The deadline for new applications to participate in the workshops is 27 January, and the no fee early bird deadline is 15 January.
BUCHAREST: Domestic box office in Romania fell by less than 20 percent in 2020 compared to 2019, as the comedy Miami Bici by Jesús del Cerro broke records with 2,382,001 EUR / 11,603,217 RON gross, which is more than double of the result of Oh, Ramona! by Cristina Jacob, the domestic hit of 2019. Miami Bici also tops the general box office. General box office results, however, were hit hard in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
