WARSAW: Agnieszka Holland’s awarded drama Spoor / Pokot was selected as Poland's official entry for an Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences nomination in the Best Foreign Language Film category. The film is a Polish/German/Swedish/Czech/Slovak coproduction.

VILNIUS: Frost / Šerkšnas by Sarunas Bartas has been chosen as the official candidate from Lithuania for an Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences nomination in the Best Foreign Language Film category. The film is a Lithuanian/Ukrainian/French/Polish coproduction.

XII Batumi International Art-house Film Festival will be held in Batumi during September 17-24 September, 2017.  Festival organizer – “Batumi Art-house ARGANI”, official partner – Batumi City Hall.

The decision was taken by the Lithuanian committee of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Frost, which is the latest work of the filmmaker Šarūnas Bartas, competed for the right to run for the prestigious award in the category of the best foreign language film with the other two candidates – The Saint directed by Andrius Blaževičius (2016) and Together For Ever by Lina Lužytė (2016).

SAREJEVO: Alen Drljević’s debut feature Men Don’t Cry has been chosen as the official candidate from Bosnia and Herzegovina for the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences nomination in the Best Foreign Language Film category. The 90th Oscars will be held on 4 March 2018.

TBILISI: Ana Urushadze’s debut feature Scary Mother has been chosen as the official candidate from Georgia for the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences nomination in the Best Foreign Language Film category. The 90th Oscars will be held on 4 March 2018.

RIGA: Chronicles of Melanie directed by Viesturs Kairišs was selected by a panel set up by the National Film Center to be Latvia’s entry for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 90th Academy Awards. The film is a Latvian/Czech/Finnish coproduction.
