BRATISLAVA: The Slovak Film and TV Academy announced nominations for the biannual national Slovak film awards, The Sun in the Net, with a total of 16 awards to be handed out at the 26 April 2014 ceremony.

Well known amongst film lovers for its distinctive repertoire, the cinema is focusing on non-commercial European and world cinema, both classics and recent film, and is also the major venue for cinematic events: festivals, meetings with filmmakers, retrospectives, and special screenings such as the Vilnius Documentary Film Festival.

European Capital of Culture 2016 to host 29th awards ceremony
Organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) with the support of Akbank for the 10th time, the 33rd Istanbul Film Festival began on the evening of Friday 4 April, with an opening ceremony held at the Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Center. The prominent names of Turkish cinema, celebrating its 100th year, were among the guests.
