TRIESTE: When East Meets West (WEMW), the coproduction forum of the Trieste Film Festival which has a focus on production from CEE territories, has announced a series of workshops and labs taking place during the 23 – 28 January 2022 event. The topics covered include animation, documentary, distribution, VOD, and drama series.
BUCHAREST: Gabriel de Achim’s third feature film Snowing Darkness / Uneori ninge cu zăpadă, alteori cu întuneric will have its world premiere on 25 November 2021 in the international competition Rebels With A Cause at the 25th edition of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (12-28 November 2021).
PRAGUE: The Karlovy Vary IFF has announced that it is replacing its second competition, East of the West, with a new competition under the name of Proxima.
BERLIN: The Hungarian production designer Márton Ágh will receive the European Production Design 2021 award from the European Film Academy at the European Film Awards, to be presented on 11 December 2021.
BUCHAREST: Dan Turturică has been approved by the Romanian Parliament as the new general manager of the Romanian public television (TVR). He is replacing acting general manager Ramona Săseanu, whose mandate expired on 29 October 2021.
TALLINN: TV Beats Forum will present eight series projects as part of Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event’s new TV Beats co-financing market. The industry programme of the Tallinn Film Festival, which marks its 20th edition this year, runs 19 – 26 November 2021. TV Beats Forum will be held in person and online 19 and 20 November.
BUCHAREST: Thirty titles have been selected for the International Competition of the 11th edition of the Bucharest Experimental International Film Festival (BIEFF, 17 – 21 November 2021). For the first time the festival will hold a national competition, for which 13 titles have been selected from 80 submissions.
LJUBLJANA: Slovak director/producer Ivan Ostrochovsky’s Servants will screen in the main competition of the 32nd Ljubljana International Film Festival (LIFFe), which takes place in cinemas from 10 to 21 November 2021.
The livestream took place on 12 November 2021 when documentary producers from the V4 countries shared their experiences during the pandemic and how they can work together during the recovery to incorporate lessons learned.

They talked about Covid accelerated changes that were already underway in Visegrad countries and to what extent international cooperation and creating new digital platforms are necessary for the future.
