WARSAW: Two Polish documentaries are on the short list of eight films vying for an Oscar nomination in the Best Short Documentary category.

Festivals 20-10-2014From a young man on a vendetta in Warsaw to an old Hungarian tenement building and its quirky inhabitants, all the way to a trip of two adolescent siblings to the Kyrgyz steppe – the thematic and stylistic diversity of this year’s Feature Film and Short Film Competitions of the FilmFestival Cottbus is captivating. Twelve feature films from 17 production countries – all of them German premieres – will compete for the Main Prize endowed with 20,000 euro and the Lubina glass award statuette. In this year‘s Short Film Competition, nine contributions from seven countries made it to the final selection.
