This year, Baltic Sea Docs celebrates its 30th anniversary, marking three decades of supporting documentary filmmakers from the Baltic Sea region, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and beyond. The 30th edition of the forum will take place from 6–11 September 2026. The project selection for the upcoming edition has concluded, and a total of 26 documentary projects will be presented.

At the 25th edition of the Tribeca Film Festival(June 3–14, 2026), the short animated film Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe! by Andrea Szelesová will be presented in the programme Shorts: Whoopi’s Wonderful World of Animation, curated by EGOT winner Whoopi Goldberg. It marks the first-ever Slovak (and Czech) short film included in the programme of this prestigious North American film festival.
The selection has been announced for the 60th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, which begins on July 3. The Slovak-Czech-Hungarian co-production Only Beautiful Things to Look At, supported by the National Film Institute Hungary, has been invited to the main competition. The powerful drama explores a chapter of Czechoslovak history that remains unresolved to this day. Co-produced by Proton Cinema with Juli Berkes co-producer and Viktória Petrányi executive producer, shot partly in Hungary, the film is planned to arrive in Hungarian cinemas in the first half of 2027, distributed by Budapest Film.

PULA: The Pula Film Festival has announced the official programme and novelties for its 73rd edition, which will be held 9 - 16 July 2026.
ZAGREB: The 3rd edition of Slano Film Days (16 – 20 June 2026) welcomes guests: Paweł Pawlikowski, Joanna Kulig, Ruben Östlund, and Michael Seresin, as well as 14 established directors and actors from the Balkan region.
After serving as Annecy’s celebrated Guest of Honour last year, Hungary returns to the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and MIFA 2026 with another exceptionally strong presence — spanning official competition selections, high-profile industry pitches, and a vibrant showcase of the country’s rapidly evolving animation scene. Supported by the National Film Institute Hungary and organised by the Hungarian Animation Producers Association, Hungary’s presence this year includes seven pitch projects, five films in competition, and a national booth representing Hungarian animation studios, highlighting the diversity, creativity, and international momentum of the Hungarian animation industry, while Anna Ida Orosz animation film historian will serve on the jury of the Contrechamp section.
