FNE at KVIFF 2019: Kozole, Skop and Grozeva/Valchanov Compete at Karlovy Vary
Czech Republic 29-05-2019PRAGUE: Three CEE films representing seven CEE countries will have their world premieres in the main competition of the Karlovy Vary IFF, running 28 June – 6 July 2019. The main competition of 12 films includes 10 world premieres.
CLUJ-NAPOCA: Ana Lungu’s sophomore feature One and a Half Prince will screen in the Romanian Days at the 18th Transilvania IFF (31 May - 9 June 2019). The film had its world premiere in the 2018 Feature Film Competition Programme of the Sarajevo Film Festival (10 -17 August 2018).
The North Macedonia Film Agency has become the 34th member of the European association of Film Agencies, the EFADs, as of May 2019.
The North Macedonia Film Agency joins the EFADs as an associate member, a status open to any film agency located in a country member of the Council of Europe. It allows it to take part in all activities of the association and have partial voting rights.
“We strongly believe that the North Macedonia Film Agency would greatly benefit by becoming a member of the EFADs association, which contributes to the actualization of European policies and initiatives by focusing on promotion and distribution of European works and the challenges of the European film industry. Joining the association enables us to exchange information, to share experiences and to strengthen our common aims for European audiovisual industries, by targeting key issues on digital change, copyright, fight against piracy and media literacy. I hope that our collaboration will enable a greater visibility and more intensive collaboration in the years to come.” declared Gorjan Tozija, Director of the North Macedonia Film Agency.
ABOUT THE NORTH MACEDONIA FILM AGENCY
The North Macedonia Film Agency as a governmental body, established under the Film Industry Law officially began its operation in 2014 as a legal successor of the Macedonian Film Fund.
- The overall responsibility of the Agency is to ensure growth of Macedonian film industry, film tradition and film culture through continuous support of its development, production, distribution, exhibition and promotion. In order to achieve its goals the Agency aims at providing a continuous support to the production of films of national interest, stimulating international filming co-productions (majority and minority co-production), encouraging expert and professional education of film industry professionals, stimulating the creation of national screenplays, promoting Macedonian cinematography at renowned international film festivals, promoting North Macedonia as a filming location as well as administering the Film Production Incentive Programme, aimed to encourage and stimulate investments in film/television projects.
- It is funded by the grant-in-aid from the Government and through contributions such as broadcasters, cable operators, Internet providers, cinema exhibitors and distributors.

23rd BALTIC SEA FORUM FOR DOCUMENTARIES (Riga, Latvia, September 3 – 7, 2019)
23rd Baltic Sea Forum for Documentaries (Baltic Sea Docs) is looking for talented and daring new documentary projects!
Every year, the Baltic Sea Docs gathers over 100 professional filmmakers from the Baltic Sea region, as well as from Northern, Eastern and Central Europe. Participating in the forum (preparatory workshops, public pitching sessions and seminars) is an invaluable way for filmmakers to find funding for the production of their projects and to further ensure that their films reach a wide audience across Europe and beyond.

Producers may enter up to 3 feature length projects each. Apart from traditional documentaries the BSD also provides a platform for cross media projects and documentary animations. One project may be sent in for selection up to 3 times. Projects pitched in the previous editions are ineligible. Priority is given to projects having some financial commitment from broadcasters or film institutions. Projects by first time filmmakers are also eligible. |

The call for projects for the 3rd edition of Warsaw Kids Film Forum, an international co- production forum aimed at children’s market is still open! WKFF is the industry part of the Kids Film Festival and will take place from 25th to 27th of September 2019.
Submissions are open till 31st of May.
What kind of projects are we looking for?
- Projects from Poland and Europe in development or at an early production stage
- Projects that already have a producer and a script writer (director is not compulsory)
- Features and TV series: animated, documentaries, live-action, transmedia

Who are we?
WKFF is an event for film industry showcasing content for children and young audience. In 3 days, 30 projects from Poland and abroad will be presented on screen and watched by producers, broadcasters, sales agents and distributors. Accompanying events include master classes, script and marketing consulting, case studies and workshops.
Who are the participants?
In order to meet a growing demand for networking between well-developed film industries and the emerging markets, we have hosted participants from various fields. The guests of previous editions included sales agents: Sola Media, Global Screen, Attraction Distribution, SF Filmindustri, Millimages as well as broadcasters: Canal +, NRK, YLE, NDR and also representatives from Netherland Film Funds, the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Polish Film Institute.
The majority of attendees were the producers who visited us from countries like: Croatia, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Israel, Latvia, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Slovenia and Ukraine.
Warsaw Kids Film Forum connects professionals from markets producing high quality children’s content with film makers from countries where kid’s productions need developing.

SKOPJE: The North Macedonia Film Agency has joined the European Association of Film Agencies (EFADs). The move represents another step in North Macedonia’s acceptance into the European film community, following a significant meeting between the heads of the North Macedonia and Greek film agencies at the Cannes Film Festival.
The 59th Krakow Film Festival began on Sunday evening with a full room at the ceremonial gala at the Kijów.Centrum cinema and the screening of the documentary “Wind. A Documentary thriller ” by Michał Bielawski. The official opening, headed by Krzysztof Gierat, director of the Festival, was attended by Robert Piaskowski, plenipotentiary of the Mayor of the City of Krakow for Culture, members of the jury and representatives of the film industry from around the world.
– Yesterday Cannes, today Krakow. Yesterday during the awards in Cannes the less known artists won with the masters of cinema. Will it also be the case at the Krakow Film Festival? – said Krzysztof Gierat, the festival director, inviting the audience to participate in the shows and events accompanying the festival.

During the eight festival days, viewers will have the opportunity to see in almost nearly 250 films from all over the world showcased in the 4 competitions and 11 non-competition sections, most of which are shown in our country for the first time. The competition films will be judged by the international Jury, whose members were presented during the ceremony. Among them are Talal Derki, Brett Morgen, Jacek Petrycki, Marta Prus, Weronika Bilska, Tomasz Raczek and Xawery Żuławski.

A great celebratory welcome was given to Caroline Leaf room, winner of this year’s Dragon of Dragon Award, who will receive her award for special contribution to the development of the world animated film which on May 27th.
– Krakow lives for the cinema and does not let you forget about it on the big screen. The capital of Małopolska is a place where not only the outstanding creators of cinema lived and created,but in which new films, documentaries and series are constantly being created. Film festivals, on the other hand, are a holiday for both the industry and the public – said Robert Piaskowski, plenipotentiary of the Mayor of Krakow for culture, opening the festival on behalf of President Jacek Majchrowski.

The highly applauded screening of the “Wind. A Documentary Thriller “, which had its world premiere during the opening of the Festival, was preceded by the presentation of the film’s creators and protagonists. Michał Bielawski, producer of the movie, producer Maciej Kubicki, production manager Anna Wereda, cinematographer Bartłomiej Solik, responsible for editing Hubert Pusek and heroine Ewa Kondera-Wołek appeared on the stage. The Krakow audience will have the opportunity to watch the film again on May 29th at 11:00 and on May 30th at 4:00 pm in the Pod Baranami Cinema, where a meeting with filmmakers and heroes will also take place.
We are in for a week filled with screenings of competition films and accompanying sections. The meetings with the creators and unique special events await for the spectators every day.
