XIII Batumi International Art-house Film Festival will be held in Batumi during September 16-23 September, 2018, closed film submission on 5 August.  Festival organizer is “Batumi Art-house ARGANI”, official partner – Batumi City Hall.

SIBIU: Nine documentaries have been selected for the International Competition of the 25th Astra Film Festival. From a total of 101 films selected, 56 will screen in the five competition sections of the festival running from 15 to 21 October 2018.

PRAGUE: Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Far From Home by Jon Watts will be partially shot in the Czech Republic in September 2018. Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Keaton, Jacob Batalon and Tony Revolori are starring.

RIGA: Veteran filmmaker Ivars Seleckis’s documentary To Be Continued has been selected as Latvia’s official entry for the US Academy Awards in the Foreign Language Film category.

TBILISI: Zaza Khalvashi's Namme has been selected as Georgia’s entry for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ award in the best foreign language film category. This Georgian/Lithuanian coproduction had its international premiere at the Tokyo Film Festival in 2017.

BUCHAREST: Donbass by Sergei Loznitsa has been selected as Ukraine’s entry for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ award in the best foreign language film category. The film is a German/French/Ukrainian/Dutch/Romanian coproduction.

VENICE: FNE together with FIPRESCI have invited FIPRESCI critics in Venice to rate the films in all four of the official competition programmes of the festival giving the films 1,2,3,4 or 5 stars. The ratings provide an overview of what critics in many different countries think about the programme.

WARSAW: FNE asked Nikolaj Nikitin about the achievements of SOFA, which held its 6th edition in Warsaw this year from 26 to 31 August 2018
