The government of Malta plans to distribute up to 500,000 EUR toward digitalisation of Malta’s cinemas.

"Arab spring compilation wins Jihlava’s main award. Belgium-based Peter Snowdon’s The Uprising, a compilation of amateur footage from the Arab spring, was awarded the Opus Bonum - Best World Documentary Film Award at the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival in the Czech Republic.

WARSAW: The European Parliament has adopted the new Creative Europe. The members of parliament voted 650 in favour, 32 against and there were 10 abstentions to approve the new programme which will be in effect from 2014-2020.

BRATISLAVA: Thirteen feature films received some 1m EUR in grants in the sixth round of the Slovak Audiovisual Fund, along with over 600,000 EUR for documentary film production.

LJUBLJANA: Miele by Valeria Golino collected the main prize of the 24th Ljubljana Film Festival.

This year’s EUROPEAN CO-PRODUCTION AWARD – Prix EURIMAGES, an award acknowledging the decisive role of co-productions in the European film industry, goes to Ada Solomon from Romania.
