While the 24th edition of connecting cottbus (9-11 Nov 2022), the East-West co-production market at FilmFestival Cottbus, is still underway, the award winners out of the 13 cocoPITCH and 6 cocoWIP projects were already announced during tonight’s ceremony:

VILNIUS: Nine titles including seven feature films and two long documentaries have been selected for the new Main Competition of the 20th edition of the European Film Forum Scanorama, which will be held in the Lithuanian cities of Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda and Šiauliai from 10 to 20 November 2022.

BUCHAREST: LA-based Deaf Crocodile Films has licensed North American home video rights to Romanian animated sci-fi film The Son of the Stars / Fiul stelelor (1987) by Calin Cazan and Mircea Toia.

WARSAW: Impossible Figures and Other Stories I, the first part of the award-winning animated trilogy by Marta Pajek, is available on Vimeo free of charge starting 8 November 2022. The second and the third part will also be released soon on Vimeo and also as a Staff Pick.

ZAGREB: The World Festival of Animated Film - Animafest Zagreb has opened the submissions for its 33rd edition set to take place 5 - 10 June 2023. All short and long animated films and VR projects released after 1 January 2022 are eligible to apply.

BERLIN: Four coproductions from FNE partner countries have been nominated for the 35th European Film Awards in the European Discovery – Prix FIPRESCI category. The European Film Academy announced the nominees in the main categories on 8 November 2022.

SARAJEVO: The Cinematography Foundation Sarajevo has become the 37th member of the European Film Agency Directors association (EFAD). The Foundation will join as an associate member, a status for countries that are members of the Council of Europe but are not from the EU.

TALLINN: Admissions in Estonia fell to 1.39 m in 2021, which is the most modest result in the last 16 years.

PRAGUE: A total of 16 awards were announced at the CEE Animation Forum 2022, the largest pitching and networking event in Central and Eastern Europe. A total of 33 projects were presented in the four main competitions.
