PRAGUE: The Czech/German interactive animated film Darkening / Tmání by Ondřej Moravec, which will have its world premiere in the Venice Immersive 2022 competition, is a 25-minute immersive experience which addresses depression and the ways to cope with it. It is also the first Czech VR film supported by the Czech Film Fund.

Bosnia-Herzegovina 03-08-2022SARAJEVO: Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen will receive the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo for his contribution to the art of film, while the American Academy Award-nominated actor, director, playwright and author Jesse Eisenberg will be presented with the Heart of Sarajevo Award at the 28th Sarajevo Film Festival.
BUDAPEST: The Budapest International Documentary Festival (BIDF) has opened the submissions for its 9th edition, which will be held 21-29 January 2023.

Czech Republic 02-08-2022PRAGUE: Veronika Lišková’s documentary The Visitors has been picked-up by Taskovski Films ahead of its premiere in the Semaine de la Critique section at the 75th edition of the Locarno Film Festival (3 – 13 August 2022).
PRAGUE: Czech Government has approved 23 m EUR / 570 m CZK for film incentives, which will add to the 32.5 m EUR / 800 m CZK decided in the original draft budget. The amendment will now be submitted to the Chamber of Deputies.
PODGORICA: Film Centre of Montenegro has distributed 61,000 EUR as script and project development grants to nine projects.
CineLink - Avant Premiere Series 2022 to Present New Series Directed by Danis Tanović, Aida Begić and Sonja Prosenc

Danis Tanović, Aida Begić and Sonja Prosenc are among the directors of these series.
WROCLAW: See You Friday Robinson by Mitra Farahani has received the Grand Prix at the 22nd New Horizons International Film Festival, which took place in Wrocław 21 – 31 July and will continue online till 7 August 2022. The Slovak/Czech/Ukrainian coproduction 107 Mothers by Peter Kerekes received the Audience Award.
WROCLAW: The City of Wrocław has signed a 10-year lease with Futureal Investment Partners and made the New Horizons Cinema available to the New Horizons Association till June 2032. Futureal Investment Partners will renovate the cinema and the building from August 2022 to May 2023.
PRAGUE: Planet Prague / Planeta Praha by Jan Hošek will be released by Aerofilms in Czech cinemas on 4 August 2022. The nature documentary is a sequel to one of the most successful Czech documentaries Planet Czechia / Planeta Česko by Marian Polak.
