The following grants were announced by the Film Centre of Montenegro on 29 April 2022.

PODGORICA: The Film Centre of Montenegro has distributed 106,000 EUR to four projects as production grants at its last batch of funding.

TALLINN: Film Estonia will receive an additional 3.4 m EUR in 2022, which will bring its support this year to 5.4 m EUR.

NICOSIA: The South African-Cypriot writer/director Stelana Kliris is currently shooting The Islander, a romantic comedy starring Harry Connick Jr. and Mira Sorvino, in Cyprus. The film is a US/Cypriot coproduction funded by the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture and supported by the Cyprus Film Commission’s incentives scheme.

PARIS: Vera Chytilová’s acclaimed Daisies / Sedmikrásky (1966) will screen in Cannes Classics 2022 in a restored version made this year.

WARSAW: Urszula Piasecka is the new CEO of the Polish film distributor Kino Świat, replacing Frederic Berardi.

SARAJEVO: The call is open for the 16th edition of Talents Sarajevo, founded in collaboration with Berlin International Film Festival and Berlinale Talents. Talents Sarajevo will be held under the title Dis/Content from 13 to 18 August 2022, within the 28th edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival (12-19 August 2022).

VALLETTA: Joaquin Phoenix and Vanessa Kirby will start shooting next week in Malta on Ridley Scott’s film Kitbag, about Napoleon's rise to power. Polish cinematographer Dariusz Adam Wolski is lensing.

BUCHAREST: Radu Jude’s new short film The Potemkinists / Potemkiniștii has been added to the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight (Quinzaine des Réalisateurs) selection, together with another nine short films.

WIESBADEN: The Macedonian minority coproduction Vera Dreams of the Sea by Kaltrina Krasniqi was awarded the Golden Lily for best film in the International Competition of the 22nd edition of goEast – Festival of Central and Eastern European Film, which wrapped in Wiesbaden on 25 April 2022.
