BIAFF Film festival closing ceremony took place on 24 September, at Cinema Apollo
Festival Jury awarded prizes in three competition sections – Feature Films, Doc Films and Short Films.
BIAFF 2021 international competition section’s Jury consisting of five members – Lana Ghoghoberidze – Head of Jury (Georgia), Iryna Gordiichuk (Ukraine), Nino Meskhidze (Georgia), Keti Machavariani (Georgia), Gogi Gvakharia (Georgia) awarded the following prizes:
- Grand Prix – “What Do We See When We Look at the Sky?”, Alexander Koberidze, Georgia/Germany, 2021
- Best Film Director – Kornel Mundruzo for film “Evolution”, Germany/Hungary, 2021
- Best Actress – Nutasa Kukhianidze in film “Otar’s Death” by Soso Bliadze, Georgia/Germany/Lithuania, 2021
- Best Actor – Serhii Filimonov in film “Rhino” by Oleh Sentsov, Ukraine/Germany/Poland, 2021
- Jury Special Mention – “Otar’s Death” by Soso Bliadze, Georgia/Germany/Lithuania, 2021 and “Bandar Band” by Manijeh Hekmat, Iran, 2021
The seventh edition of the Czech-In Festival, a festival of Czech and Slovak films in Paris, will take place on October 22, 23 and 24, 2021, on the occasion of the upcoming national holiday of Czechoslovakia (October 28).
Once again the screenings will be organized in various screening rooms of the capital so they will be accessible to a wide audience. Screenings will take place in the Auditorium of the City Hall of Paris, as well as in the 3 Luxembourg and Reflet Médicis cinemas. In November, two satellite screenings will take place at Parisian universities: the Sorbonne and the State Institute of Oriental Languages.
PRODUCTION: Ion Ioachim Stroe in Postproduction with Debut Feature There Is No One Here
Romania 30-09-2021BUCHAREST: The Romanian director Ion Ioachim Stroe is currently in postproduction with his debut feature There Is No One Here / Aici nu e nimeni, which is the first independent debut feature from the Bucharest-based production outfit Wearebasca.
Today, we are happy to announce four additional feature film entries and four additional documentary film entries which would like to present themselves to the members of the European Film Academy as candidates for a nomination.
VALLETTA: The Malta Film Commission will launch a national event, Malta Film Awards, in February 2022. Submissions opened on 29 September 2021 and the deadline is 9 October 2021.
BUCHAREST: A total of 47 animated short films from 27 countries are competing for the 2021 Animest Trophy, the coveted prize that ensures the winner eligibility for the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film. The 16th Animest International Animation Film Festival will take place in a hybrid format in Bucharest and online from 8 to 17 October 2021.
BELGRADE: The Serbian production company Firefly Productions has opened an office in London, which will be led by former BBC and Channel 4 executive Kate Snell.
