PRAGUE: The 9th edition of the leading regional pitching, financing and coproduction event CEE Animation Forum, which was held online in an extended edition from 26 April to 6 May 2021, announced its winners.
The CEE Animation Forum, the leading regional pitching, financing and co-production event, was held online from 26 April to 6 May 2021. The award ceremony marked the grand finale of the 2021 extended two-week edition showcasing 40 animated projects in 5 categories — selected from 116 submissions. International juries composed of globally renowned experts from the film industry awarded various prizes in the total amount of EUR 15,000 in cash and free scholarships or direct access to prestigious European events.

BUCHAREST: Paul Negoescu’s Two Lottery Tickets / Doua lozuri will be distributed by Dekanalog Releasing in US theatres and virtual cinemas starting 21 May 2021. Negoescu’s sophomore feature was a big success in Romania in 2016.
BRATISLAVA: Three feature film projects from the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland, together with three Slovak feature film projects, will take part in the first edition of Pop Up Film Residency Visegrad, which will be held in Bratislava from 10 to 31 May 2021.
Lower Threshold for Polish Cash Rebate Opens the Door to More Regional Coproductions
Poland 07-05-2021WARSAW: One of the most significant measures instituted by the Polish Film Institute during the pandemic was the reduction of the threshold for Polish eligible costs for coproduction of feature films in 2021 necessary to qualify for the cash rebate for shooting in Poland. This measure has had an important impact allowing more productions to qualify for the rebate and enabling more regional coproductions to work with Poland, and it encouraged producers in neighbouring countries to look again at Poland.
BUCHAREST: Bucharest reopens cinemas, theatres, concert halls and indoor restaurants as the infection rate has fallen below three cases for 1,000 persons for three consecutive days.
