The following grants were announced by the National Film Centre of Latvia on 31 May 2023.

ŽILINA: The very rich programme of the 16th edition of Fest Anča International Animation Festival is centred on the theme of Utopias. The festival held in Žilina, Slovakia, 29 June – 2 July 2023, is the only Slovak multimedia festival focused on animated films primarily for adult audiences.

The 16th edition of Fest Anča International Animation Festival will take place during the first summer holiday weekend from 29 June to 2 July 2023. The theme of this year's festival is UTOPIAS. Its visitors can look forward to a rich selection of Slovak and foreign animated films and a diverse accompanying programme. Fest Anča will screen not only the trilogy of the award-winning director Marta Pajek but also the cult film The Fantastic Planet. Families with children will also find something they like, as Fest Anča has prepared a generous offer of events for them. The festival will also host the second edition of the unique Student Forum, which creates space for discussion between schools and animation students.

PRAGUE: Radek Beran and David Lisy’s animated film The Proud Princess has been acquired by All Rights Entertainment. The film produced by Luminar Film will be completed in 2024.

BUCHAREST: The Romanian-American actor Sebastian Stan has joined Andreea Cristina Borțun’s debut feature Blue Banks / Malul Vânăt as a producer. The project, whose spring shooting season started on 29 May 2023, is a coproduction between Romania, France and Slovenia.

SARAJEVO: Eleven projects including new titles by Dušan Kasalica and Marius Olteanu have been selected for the CineLink Co-Production Market, which will be held 14 – 18 August 2023.

KRAKOW: The 63rd edition of the Krakow Film Festival wrapped on 4 June 2023. Here is the full list of winners of the competition sections as well as the industry segment.

VALLETTA: The 1st edition of the Mediterrane Film Festival, running in Valletta 25-30 June 2023, offers a rich industry programme with panel discussions, masterclasses, roundtables and conferences. The festival is organised by the Malta Film Commission.

LJUBLJANA: Cineplexx Ljubljana was awarded as best new built cinema of the year at the International Cinema Technology Association’s (ICTA) 2023 Awards.

PRAGUE: The Czech/Slovak/Polish/Serbian coproduction Restore Point / Bod obnovy by Robert Hloz was sold by XYZ Films to Germany, Switzerland, France, Scandinavia, Australia and New Zealand at the Cannes’ Marché du Film, where it was selected among the Fantastic 7 genre films.
