Industry@Tallinn and Baltic Event - the summit of Tallinn Black Nights FF for audiovisual industry professionals announces dates: 17-24 Nov, 2016

TALLINN: Industry@Tallinn and Baltic Event, the summit of Tallinn Black Nights FF for audiovisual industry professionals, will take place from 17 to 24 November 2016. Deadline for applications for I &T Work in Progress is 15 September 2016.

BIERTAN: Full Moon / Lună plină, the only horror&fantastic film festival in Romania, kicks off in the village of Biertan in Transylvania on 25 August 2016. The festival is presented by the team behind Transilvania IFF.

BUCHAREST: German/Austrian/Romanian coproduction Toni Erdmann by Maren Ade will receive the FIPRESCI Grand Prix 2016, awarded by the International Federation of Film Critics to the best film of 2016. The prize will be awarded on 16 September 2016, at the opening ceremony of the San Sebastian Film Festival.

BERLIN: Fifteen majority and minority coproductions from CEE countries are among the 50 titles from EFA Feature Film Selection, the list of feature fiction films recommended for a nomination for the European Film Awards 2016.

TALLINN: Monika Siimets’s debut feature The Little Comrade tells the story of six-year-old Leelo (Helena-Maria Reisner), whose mother Helmes (Eva Koldits) is sent to a Siberian prison camp during the Stalinist repressions of 1950. Shooting began this week and the premiere is set for 2018, on the occasion of the 100 years celebration of the Republic of Estonia.

TORONTO:  Producers from Slovakia, Estonia and Croatia were selected for  the 7th edition of Producers Lab Toronto set to launch alongside the Toronto International Film Festival® on 6 September 2016.

TALLINN: Estonian/Finnish war drama 1944 by Elmo Nüganen has been released in the UK on DVD and is also available on Amazon. For the European market its title is 1944: Forced to Fight.

VILNIUS: Lithuanian writer/director Egle Vertelyte is in postproduction with her first feature film Miracle, a Lithuanian/Bulgarian coproduction.

This year FNE together with FIPRESCI will offer the ratings of all feature length films screening in the Main Competition, Orizzonti, Venice Days and Critics Week of the Venice Film Festival by international critics attending the Festival.
