VALLETTA:The Maltese-Australian film director Julian Galea has teamed up with his brother, actor and producer James Galea, for the comedy Brothers from Malta. Following its theatrical release in Malta, Australia and Canada, the road trip comedy is now available digitally around the world on Galea Pictures TV.

What started as an experimental YouTube video in 2014 has developed into the first Maltese immigrant movie to ever hit the screen.

NICOSIA: The Swedish reality show The Challenge has filmed over 19 new episodes during 23 days in Cyprus with local company Green Olive Films servicing. Previously, the show was shot in Malta.

RIGA: The 27th edition of the Baltic Sea Forum for Documentaries (BSD) has launched its call for applications. The most important documentary co-financing pitching event in the Baltic countries will be held in Riga 3 – 10 September 2023. The deadline for applications is 12 June 2023.

WARSAW: Films Boutique has acquired Agnieszka Holland’s new feature film The Green Border, which has wrapped principal photography in Poland and started editing in Prague. The film is a coproduction between Poland, France, Belgium and the Czech Republic.

VILNIUS: Applications for the 11th edition of the Baltic Pitching Forum (BPF) are now open. The event will be held in Vilnius 10 - 13 October 2023, and filmmakers from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and 2023 guest country Greece are invited to submit their projects till 20 July 2023.

SIBIU: The 7th edition of the ESTE FILM Festival, which was held in Sibiu, Romania 10 -14 May 2023, launched the first edition of LINE-UP: International Academy & Networking for Festival Managers, an annual meeting for European managers of film and theatre festivals, academic professors and students.
