TRENCIANSKE TEPLICE: Four student films will compete for the main prize of the On the Road competition of international student films at the first edition of the new IFF Trencianske Teplice, which will take place 23-26 June 2016 in the Slovak spa resort town.

Seven documentaries have been nominated for the 2016 Doc Alliance award.

Ever since 2008, the 7-member Doc Alliance platform of prestigious European documentary film festivals has been organising an international award intended especially for first-time directors. The Doc Alliance Selection Award helps up-and-coming filmmaking talents to put their name on the documentary map, providing a prize of EUR 5,000 to support their future projects.

KOSICE: Fourteen films will compete at Art Film Fest, which runs 17-25 June 2016 in a new setting, the Eastern Slovakia city of Kosice.

WARSAW: The two-day School Film Festival is set to run 16 and 17 June 2016. The festival attracts students and teachers from across Poland.

ZAGREB: Magic Mountain by Romanian director Anca Damian won the Grand Prix for Best Feature Film at the 26th edition of the Croatian festival of animated films Animafest, which concluded on 11 June 2016.

Split will host Ex Oriente in June.

GDYNIA: The 41st Gdynia Film Festival, which will take place 19-24 September 2016, is honouring the 20th anniversary of the death of Krzysztof Kieslowski with a competition of one minute films with a message.

VILNIUS: The second workshop of the EAVE Producers Workshop programme 2016 will take place in Druskininkai, Lithuania, 13-20 June 2016. The workshop, which is organised in partnership with the Lithuanian Film Centre, will involve 51 participants from 37 countries.
