BUCHAREST: The acclaimed Romanian writer/director Radu Jude is currently in postproduction with a new feature film, Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn (aka Sleepwalkers), a coproduction between Romania, Luxembourg, the Czech Republic and Croatia. Ada Solomon, who discovered Radu Jude and produced all his films, is producing again.

BRATISLAVA: Slovak producer/director Rasťo Boroš starts postproduction on his second feature Strawmen Scare No Crows / Čierne na bielom koni.

BELGRADE: Principal photography on the mountain climbing thriller The Ledge has started on locations in Serbia. The feature is directed by Howard J. Ford and produced by UK’s Evolution Pictures together with the Belgrade-based Red Production Serbia.

VILNIUS: Ukrainian director Sergei Loznitsa is starting production on his archive documentary project The Natural History of Destruction / Natūrali naikinimo istorija. The film is produced by Germany‘s LOOKS Filmproduktionen GmbH in coproduction with Lithuania‘s Studio Uljana Kim and Atoms & Void (the Netherlands).

VILNIUS: Director Inesa Kurklietyte has moved into post-production with her feature film A Butterfly‘s Heart / Drugelio širdis produced by Živilė Gallego for Lithuania‘s Fralita Films.

BUDAPEST: Kristóf Deák is currently shooting his first feature film The Grandson / Az unoka, a thriller and coming-of-age film with shades of black comedy. Deák won the Academy Award in 2017, when Sing / Mindenki was named best live action short film.

TBILISI: Georgian director Natia Nikolashvili is currently in pre-production with her first full length animated feature film Igi. The animation is produced by Vladimer Katcharava through 20 Steps Productions. The project won the CEE Animation Forum award for feature films. CEE Animation Forum, the leading pitching, financing and coproduction event focusing on the animation industry in the CEE region, was held online from 6 to 8 October 2020. The production team is seeking a coproducing and financial partner.

BUCHAREST: Romanian directors Anton and Damian Groves are developing their debut feature King Wray, which will use an innovative animation technique. The project received the CEE Animation Workshop Award at the October 2020 CEE Animation Forum, where it was looking for international coproducers and financing.

TBILISI: The notable Georgian film director, scriptwriter and actress Nana Djordjadze is currently in production with her feature film Forced Migration of the Butterflies. The first shoot of the four-season film took place from 27 August to 2 September 2020, and the next one lasted from 25 September to 6 October. The filming is scheduled to continue in winter, spring and summer sessions. The project is funded by the GNFC and produced by Jana Sardlishvili through Studio 99.

TBILISI: Georgian film director Nika Tsiklauri is currently in production with his long documentary The Five Views of the Caucasus, a 90 minute documentary film on the topics of culture, science, conservation and human stories.

BUDAPEST: Filming on the Hungarian spy film called The Game / A játszma directed by Péter Fazakas started at the beginning of September 2020. The film’s 43 shooting days will take place during the autumn season.

BELGRADE: The BAFTA-winning British actress Miriam Margolyes will make her Serbian debut in a contemporary lockdown thriller Next To You / Pored tebe being filmed in London and Belgrade.

ZAGREB: The 100-day shoot of the fourth season of Black & White World / Crno-bijeli svijet, the Croatian period drama with elements of comedy, has wrapped filming. The TV series is produced by Interfilm for the Croatian National Television. Written and directed by Goran Kulenović and Igor Mirković, it follows the stories of different generations of citizens of Zagreb in the 1980s, marked by the blooming rock music scene under the communist regime.

TBILISI: Georgian director Tornike Bziava is currently completing production on his long documentary Higher up is Tazo. The first shoot took place in Tbilisi in August 2017. The project is funded by the GNFC and the producer/cinematographer is Elia Pharsadanishvili. Filming is in the final stages and the premiere of the film is expected in 2021.

BELGRADE: The production of the Serbian feature Golden Boy / Zlatni dečko directed by Ognjen Janković and supported by Film Center Serbia, started on 30 September 2020.

TBILISI: Georgian director Alexander Koridze is currently in production with his long documentary Atonal Glow. The first shoot started in Tbilisi in July 2019. The project is funded by the GNFC and Koridze himself is the producer. The filming is underway and the premiere of the film is expected in 2021.
