DOCUMENTARY PRODUCTION: Vojtek Filming Children

 

BRATISLAVA: Jaroslav Vojtek (The Border) started shooting his first feature in May 2012. If in his documentary Unwanted Children/ Nechcené deti (2001) he was dealing with children from foster homes, he is now telling four individual stories about the complicated relationships between parents and children in modern Slovakia.

PRODUCTION: The Will to Live Goes into Production

WARSAW: Polish film director Maciej Pieprzyca will begin filmimg his second feature The Will to Live (Chce sie zyc)on 16 June 2012, continuing through 31 July. The film is produced by Tramway Film Studio and co-produced by Silesia Film and is supported by the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl).

BRATISLAVA: Slovak director Iva Kúšiková finished principal shooting I Mean It, Lord, a TV documentary on the deportation of nuns into labour camps in the 1950's, and began editing in May 2012.

BRATISLAVA: Martin Sulik (Gypsy, The City of the Sun) is in postproduction with A Pilgrim through Slovak Times,a 52 minute documentary on the director, screenwriter, playwright, art director and ethnographist Viliam Gruska.

BRATISLAVA: Slovak director Miro Remo is in postproduction with the documentary Comeback, a social study of the world of prisoners following the life of two repeat offenders as they make their first steps outside the gates of the most closely watched Slovak jail, accompanied by a journalist.

BUCHAREST: Hungarian producer Emoke Vagasi and Romanian producer Ada Solomon are in preproduction with Roxanne, the debut film of director Valentin Hotea. The two coproduced Best Intentions by Adrian Sitaru.

PRODUCTION: Fine, Thanks in Postproduction

BRATISLAVA: Slovak director Matyas Prikler is in the sound mixing stage with Fine, Thanks, a film investigating the way the financial crisis is affecting the intimate lives of the people, revealing a severe picture of their complicated relationships.

Fine, Thanks /Ďakujem, dobre consists of a prologue, three main stories, and an epilogue connected by the lead characters. The short film with the same title made by Prikler in 2010 will be the first part of it. This is his first feature.

PRODUCTION: Grlic in Preproduction with The Viper's Glen Miracle

{mosimage}ZAGREB: Acclaimed Croatian director Rajko Grlić, nominated at the Palm d'Or for Bravo Maestro in 1978, is preparing The Viper's Glen Miracle for shooting in 2013.

The Viper's Glen Miracle/Čudo u Poskokovoj Dragi will be adapted for the screen by Ante Tomić from his 2010 comic novel. The story is centered on the family of an old man living in the Dalmatian mountains who is refuses to accept modern civilization despite his four sons attempts to change his situation.

BUCHAREST: Fredrik Bond's first feature The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman will bring Shia LaBeouf, Evan Rachel Wood, Melissa Leo, Mads Mikkelsen, Til Schweiger and James Buckley to Bucharest. Shooting is set to start the end of May and to last for one month. MediaPro Studios (www.mediaprostudios.com) are providing facilities.
