BRATISLAVA: MPhilms is coproducing the Hungarian/Slovak debut film Wild Roots by Hajni Kis. The film, which is supported by the Slovak Audiovisual Fund, won the Works in Progress TRT Award of Karlovy Vary Industry Days.

BELGRADE: Writer/director Ivan Ikić is completing postproduction on his sophomore feature The Users / Korisnici, a coproduction between Serbia, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and France. The film was presented at First Cut+ Works in Progress at Karlovy Vary Eastern Promises, 6-8 July 2020.

VILNIUS: Just a Moment is producing Burial, the debut feature length creative documentary from the internationally awarded Lithuanian artist Emilija Škarnulytė. The project participated in the Eurimages Lab Project Award presentation at the online edition of Karlovy Vary Eastern Promises on 8 July 2020.

VILNIUS: Lithuanian director Andrius Blaževičius is in postproduction with his second feature film Runner. The Lithuanian/Czech coproduction, which was previously titled Paralysis, was introduced on 6 July 2020 at First Cut+ Works in Progress, presented as part of the online Karlovy Vary Eastern Promises programme.

BUCHAREST: The Romanian film Immaculate by debuting director Monica Stan and George Chiper Lillemark was presented at the online First Cut+ Works in Progress section of Karlovy Vary IFF's Eastern Promises. The film is a debut and based on the personal story of Stan’s own life.
PRODUCTION: Tereza Nvotová to Begin Production on Slovak/Czech/French Nightsiren
BRATISLAVA: The young talented Slovak filmmaker Tereza Nvotová will go into production with her second fiction feature film The Nigthsiren / Svetlonoc. This Slovak/Czech/French coproduction drama received Eurimages coproduction support, announced on 6 July 2020, and a Eurimages Development Award in 2018.
PRODUCTION: Georgian Field in Production
TBILISI: Georgian director Lasha Tskvitinidze’s second feature film Field was presented at Karlovy Vary’s Eastern Promises Works in Progress online session on 6 July 2020. The producers are seeking additional funding to complete the film. The director’s first feature film I Am Beso was considered a promising debut and a new statement in Georgian modern social cinema.

WARSAW: Work has been resumed on The Republic of Children, a fantasy drama by Jan Jakub Kolski, after a break caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
PRODUCTION: Jan Komasa in Development with English-language Debut
WARSAW: Jan Komasa, the director of the Academy Award nominated film Corpus Christi, is working on his first English language film, Anniversary. The film will be a post-apocalyptic drama with an international crew and cast, produced by Nick Wechsler, Steve Schwartz and Paula Mae Schwartz.

SOFIA: The director/writer Dimitar Kutmanov is in postproduction with his feature debut Lament for the Silent Fool. The film was screened during the 17th Sofia Meetings Works in Progress, held online at Festival Scope.

BELGRADE: The shooting of the Serbian feature war drama Kosare / Košare is scheduled to commence by 1 July 2020. The film, supported by Film Center Serbia, marks the feature debut for the helmer Balša Đogo.
PRODUCTION: Slovak/Czech Fairytale Goes Into Production
BRATISLAVA: The fairytale O liečivej vode (The World of Water) directed by Ján Sebechlebský is one of the first films to be shot in Slovakia after the easing of COVID-19 restrictions. The Slovak/Czech coproduction is planned to be released on RTVS on Christmas Eve 2020.
PRODUCTION: Shooting Wraps for Polish Drama Starring Katarzyna Figura
WARSAW: It is a wrap for Baptism / Chrzciny, the feature debut of Jakub Skoczeń, starring Katarzyna Figura. The production was one of the first feature films that wrapped after the COVID-19 lockdown was lifted in Poland.
PRODUCTION: Bulgarian Director Victor Bojinov Preps Chamla
SOFIA: Victor Bojinov is preparing his second feature Chamla (aka Kingdom Chamla). The film was to start shooting on 27 April 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic the director is expected to resume work on it in early autumn.
