RIGA: Ilze Kunga-Melgaile's historical drama Life Interrupted / Dzīve pārtraukta is currently in postproduction, after successfully wrapping the shooting in the autumn of 2022. The main character is based on the journalist and politician Ita Kozakeviča, a bright figure in the pro-independence movement in the final Soviet years, who passed away suddenly at the age of 35 years in 1990.

ZAGREB: Debut feature The Celebration / Proslava, directed by Bruno Anković and produced by Rea Rajčić through Croatia’s Eclectica in coproduction with Serbia’s Baš Čelik, Slovenia’s Vertigo and Croatia’s Spiritus Movens, started filming last week in the Lika-Senj County.

BELGRADE: Serbian director Vladimir Perišić is currently in production with his sophomore feature Lost Country, which is a coproduction of France, Serbia, Luxembourg and Croatia, expected to premiere during 2023.

PODGORICA: Ivan Salatić is in development with his sophomore feature Melting of the Ruler / Otapanje vladara, for which it received coproduction support from Eurimages on 5 December 2022.

LJUBLJANA: Petra Seliškar’s fifth long documentary Body / Telo is expected to be finished in the beginning of 2023. This Slovenian/North Macedonian/Croatian coproduction is a story dealing with resilience and acceptance, life and death, disease and health, and the interconnection between body and mind.

VILNIUS: Lithuanian/ American filmmaker Tomas Vengris is currently in postproduction with his sophomore feature Five and a Half Love Stories in an Apartment in Vilnius / Penkios su puse meilės istorijos, nutikusios viename Vilniaus bute, which is estimated to be released in 2023. The film is a Lithuanian/Irish/Latvian coproduction.

BELGRADE: Serbian director Szabolcs Tolnai is currently in production with his new feature film Cycling With Zoli The Turk / Vožnja biciklom sa Zolijem Turčinom. This Serbian/Slovak coproduction has recently been supported by Eurimages. Prior to that, the project was supported by Film Center Serbia and the Slovak Film Institute.

RIGA: Latvian independent animation studio Atom Art is currently in preproduction with its second long project Born Happy / Laimīgie, a Latvian/Polish coproduction directed by Edmunds Jansons.

SKOPJE: Macedonian director/writer Dimitar Orovcanec is currently in postproduction with his debut feature Blue Orange / Sin portokal (working title Kill the Children First), which is estimated to be finished in 2023.

OSIJEK: Croatian director Dalibor Matanić started filming the second season of his acclaimed TV series The Silence / Šutnja, which is produced by Croatia’s Drugi Plan and the Croatian Radiotelevision in coproduction with Germany’s Beta Film, Ukraine’s Star Media and OLL.TV, as well as ZDF/ARTE.

WARSAW: The first documentary about Robert Lewandowski, one of the greatest strikers in the history of football, is currently in postproduction and will premiere internationally on Amazon Prime Video in 2023. The film, which doesn’t have a title yet, is directed by Maciej Kowalczuk and was commissioned by Amazon Prime Video from Papaya Films, one the largest production houses in Poland.

SOFIA: The privately financed Bulgarian/Hungarian Axis of Life directed by Atanas Hristoskov and produced by Invictus in coproduction with the Ganges Indian-Hungarian Cultural Foundation, is one of the first productions approved for cash rebate in Bulgaria since the country launched its cash rebate scheme in January 2022. The project expects to receive over 100,000 EUR, which is 25% of the qualification costs during the shooting in Bulgaria in the early autumn of 2022.

BUDAPEST: Balint Dániel Sós is currently shooting Minden rendben (working title Growing Down), a drama starring Szabolcs Hajdu. The film is supported by the Incubator Programme of the National Film Institute – Hungary.

PRAGUE: Czech director Jiří Havelka is currently finishing production on his feature film Gardener (working title) / Zahradník, which is estimated to be finished in 2023.

PRAGUE: Ondřej Vavrečka is currently finishing production while already editing his docufiction 1+1+1, which is estimated to be finished in 2023. The Czech/Slovak project was presented at MIA Rome 2022 and in the New Visions Market of the Ji.hlava IDFF 2022.

NICOSIA: Romantic comedy The Islander, directed by Stelana Kliris and produced by Meraki Films from Cyprus and US Uinta Productions, has entered the final stage of production. The film starring Harry Connick Jr. was entirely shot in Cyprus, the regions of Peyia and Nicosia.
