TALLINN: Five short animated films based on the renowned writer Andrus Kivirähk’s short stories for children, are set to be released in the winter of 2023 as an omnibus long animated film titled Poop, Spring and Others. Two of them are already ready and three are still in production.

LJUBLJANA: Igor Bezinović finished the two-year shooting of his long documentary Fiume o morte! in the first week of July 2022. The Croatian/Slovenian/Italian coproduction follows WWI events connected to the Italian poet Gabrielle D’Annunzio.

BUDAPEST: Hungarian director András Fésős is in postproduction with his sophomore feature Rise Up and Walk / Kelj fel és járj, starring Romanian actor Bogdan Dumitrache. The film tells the story of a father and son's difficult reunion, and it involves several spectacular firefighter rescues.

TALLINN: Estonian comedy/drama Free Money by Rain Rannu is currently shooting in the United States and Estonia. This Estonian production will be one of the first films ever to incorporate real non-fungible tokens (NFT-s) directly into the screening experience.

TALLINN: The domestic comedy Faulty Brides / Vigased pruudid by Ergo Kuld was shot during 18 days from 8 June to 10 July 2022 in the Matsalu National Park in the Lääne County, Estonia. It is also lensed by the director Ergo Kuld.

BELGRADE: Serbian actor Rade Ćosić is currently in postproduction with his directorial debut feature Dead or Alive / Ko živ, ko mrtav. This buddy-buddy film / action comedy with aspects of a thriller is expected to premiere by the end of 2022 or in January 2023.

BRATISLAVA: Slovak director Robert Kirchhoff is currently in postproduction with his creative documentary All Men Become Brothers / Všetci ľudia budú bratia. The film is produced by Kirchhoff´s atelier.doc and coproduced by the Radio and Television Slovakia, endorfilm (Czech Republic) and the Czech Television.

ZAGREB: The Croatian animation studio Recircle has started producing its new animated series Nutz / Krceki, created and produced by Denis Alenti and sold internationally by England’s Meta Media.

VILNIUS: Lithuania‘s Dublis LT wrapped the shooting the romantic comedy Men's Dreams by Justinas Krisiūnas. The previous film by the same team of producers and director, Man for Money / Vyras už pinigus was a big hit at the local box office with over 85,000 admissions since its theatrical release on 31 December 2021.

LJUBLJANA: Igor Šterk’s feature film Lunatic wrapped shooting in the Slovenian seaside town of Piran. The Slovenian/Croatian coproduction is a bittersweet autobiography of the director’s family, whose father Jure Šterk, a famous sailor, disappeared in the Indian Ocean 13 years ago.

BUCHAREST: Ana-Maria Comănescu’s debut feature Horia starts shooting in Romania on 29 June 2022. The film is a Romanian/Bulgarian/Serbian coproduction produced by Carla Fotea and Ada Solomon through microFILM in coproduction with Rossitsa Valkanova through Klas Film and Nikolina Vučetić-Zečević through Biberche Productions.

WARSAW: After five years of working on the project, director Karolina Bielawska moves into development with her debut feature, a biopic inspired by the life of iconic Polish singer Violetta Villas. The working title is Violetta and the Woodpecker.

SKOPJE: Turkish public broadcaster TRT is shooting the TV series Balkan Lullaby / Balkan Ninnisi in Skopje, directed by Doğan Ümit Karaca and serviced by the Macedonian company City Star Production. The first episode of the series already aired on TRT 1 on 21 June 2022.

TALLINN: The TV drama series Estonia, a coproduction between Finland, Estonia, Belgium and Sweden, is currently shooting in Belgium. Estonia tells the tragic events of 28 September 1994, when the MS Estonia ferry sank on the Baltic Sea, taking 852 lives. The series is budgeted at 13 m EUR and planned to be broadcast as eight 45-minute episodes or four 90-minute episodes.

SKOPJE: Director Jani Bojadzi is filming the drama thriller TV series Clear Water / Bistra voda on several locations in Skopje from 2 June to 31 July 2022. The 12 episodes are produced by Macedonian Cinnamon Media Factory in coproduction with Macedonian Alfa TV.

BUDAPEST: Golden Bear-winner Ildikó Enyedi starts shooting the pilot episode of the TV series Angel’s Trumpets / Angyaltrombiták at the end of June 2022. The bloody and humorous revenge story was written by young Katalin Besenyei, who pitched it at the Hypewriter TV Series Pitch Forum in 2021 to a jury having Enyedi among its members. The project was awarded and Enyedi eventually boarded the project.
