BUDAPEST: Balázs Lóth is currently in preproduction with the historical adventure film Now or Never! / Most vagy soha!, for which he received a record amount of funding of 12.2 m EUR / 4.5 billion HUF, highest since 1989, from the National Film Institute – Hungary in January 2022.

BRATISLAVA: Slovak director György Kristóf is currently in postproduction with his sophomore feature Bunker (working title). The film will use dance as cinematic language and it is a coproduction between Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic.

BELGRADE: Young Serbian film director Luka Mihailović has just wrapped up the shooting of his debut feature, the urban crime drama Indigo Crystal / Indigo Kristal, in his hometown of Šabac.

GDAŃSK: Doppelgänger is currently shooting in Gdańsk with a star cast including Jakub Gierszał, Tomasz Schuchardt and Andrzej Seweryn. This is the second feature by Jan Holoubek after 25 Years of Innocence. The Case of Tomek Komenda (TVN), a sensational drama based on real events.

WARSAW: The director of Polish box office hits Patryk Vega has revealed his secret project, Autobiography (working title), a very personal film intended to be his last project in Polish, as he plans to move to English-language projects.

BUDAPEST: The docu-comedy essay Whose Dog Am I? / Ki kutyája vagyok én? / Al cui câine sunt? by Robert Lakatos is on the finishing line of postproduction. The film produced by Rita Balogh through Hungary’s OTHER Films in coproduction with Alexandru and Ada Solomon through Romania’s microFILM talks Big Politics through the politics of the dog world.

BUCHAREST: Sabin Dorohoi is currently in production with his debut feature Clara, which he started shooting in Ulm, Germany, at the beginning of March 2022. This drama on the social phenomenon of migration of labour force is a Romanian/German coproduction.

BELGRADE: Serbian director Mladen Đorđević has entered postproduction with his feature film Labour Day / Prvi maj, which is a coproduction between Serbia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Montenegro and Romania.

PRAGUE: Czech film star Aňa Geislerová has spent recent weeks as Ms. President on winter Prague locations. The fictional role of the first female president of the Czech Republic in history has been written for the popular actress by the Czech romantic comedies hitmaker Rudolf Havlík.

BELGRADE: Serbian director Maja Miloš has recently started the production of her sophomore feature titled Rift in the Ice / Pukotina u ledu, envisioned as a contemporary fairytale exploring women's integrity and sexuality in our harsh reality. The film is a Serbian/Slovenian/Croatian/Dutch/Italian/Montenegrin coproduction.

WARSAW: Principal photography for Sebastian Buttny's Polish/Hungarian film Saint / Święty wrapped on 11 February 2022. The film has been shot for thirty days in Poznań and Gniezno.

BUCHAREST: Christopher Landry’s Document 56 has wrapped production in Romania. The Romanian/USA feature short tells the strange-but-true story of a covert Cold War alliance between the American CIA and the Romanian Securitate (secret police) to finance the Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein.

BUCHAREST: Tudor Giurgiu is currently working on Sibiu ’89, a feature film set in the city of Sibiu in December 1989, during the fall of the Communism. The project is a Romanian/Hungarian coproduction between Giurgiu’s Libra Film Productions and Mythberg Films.

BRATISLAVA: The Czech/Slovak documentary about an internationally recognised artist of Slovak origin Jan Mancuska: You Will Never See It All / Chýbanie directed by Štěpán Pech is currently in production. The film received the Eurimages grant in December 2021.

SKOPJE: Kastriot Abdyli has finished the shooting of his second feature Perhaps / Mozebi, produced by Dardania Film.

BUCHAREST: Italian director/scriptwriter Elena Rebeca Carini is currently in production with her long documentary The Land You Belong, whose shooting started in November 2021. This Italian/Romanian coproduction received a grant of 65,000 EUR from Eurimages at its last call in December 2021.
