BUCHAREST: Romanian actor Rareș Abraham is currently in postproduction with his debut feature Friday the 3rd / Vineri 3, which he also wrote, produced and shot in Cluj-Napoca from 15 to 27 February 2021.

PULA: Dutch director Jacqueline Van Vugt started filming her debut feature Crossing in Pula on 5 May 2021. The film, coproduced by Revolver Films (the Netherlands), A Private View (Belgium) and Nukleus film (Croatia), is set in the Mediterranean Sea, but the filming will be done in Croatia. Tax rebates are provided through the Filming in Croatia programme.

SARAJEVO: Danis Tanović has started shooting his ninth film on 3 May 2021. A Ten in a Half is a Bosnian coproduction supported through the feature film production scheme Sarajevo City of Film for Global Screen, launched by the Sarajevo Film Festival and the Turkish Radio Television in 2016.

BRATISLAVA: Avalanche of Love / Láska hory prenáša, the debut feature by young Czech director Jakub Machala, who has been awarded for his commercials, music videos and TV series, is currently in postproduction. This Slovak/Czech romantic comedy is set to be released in February 2022.

SKOPJE: First time director Eleonora Veninova is in the last stage of editing with Sabattier Effect / Preeksponirano, produced by Goce Kralevski through DNF Films. This Macedonian/Serbian coproduction is the first Macedonian film that was shot under the COVID-19 safety guidelines for filming in 2020.

TALLINN: Popular Estonian director René Vilbre is set to direct the crime drama Who Shot Otto Mueller?, the first original Viaplay production from Estonia. Tallinn-based Cuba Films is producing.

BRATISLAVA: Soňa Gyárfáš Lutherová’s first long documentary Happy Man / Šťastný človek is entering the last stage of production. This Slovak/Czech film, also coproduced by HBO Europe, captures the intimate image of a person in transition.

SARAJEVO: Aida Begić is currently in postproduction with her fourth feature film A Ballade, a Bosnian/French coproduction between Film House and Les Films de l'Après Midi, which was shot with interruptions, as the director, the DoP and the main actress got infected with COVID-19.

BELGRADE: Serbian filmmaker Mladen Kovačević is currently in production with his long documentary Another Spring / Još jedno proleće, about the 1972 Yugoslavian smallpox outbreak. The project recently won the Raggioverde Subtitling Award in the Work in Progress section of the VdR Industry 2021 of the 53rd Documentary Film Festival Visions du Réel in Nyon.

SOFIA: The political journalist and international correspondent for the Bulgarian National Television, Sevda Shishmanova is developing her first feature film Remains of Life. This so far Bulgarian/German coproduction is inspired by the terrorist attack in Burgas in 2012 and it is produced by Red Carpet.

LJUBLJANA: Slobodan Maksimović finished shooting his live-action feature Beanie / Kapa on 22 April 2021. This Slovenian/Luxembourg/Croatian/Slovak coproduction is the first Slovenian Christmas film and is expected to premiere in November 2021.

LJUBLJANA: Inhumanum: The Inhumanity of Man by Igor Zupe, the first Slovenian homicide documentary TV series, started shooting in Ljubljana on 12 April 2021. The series of eight 45-minute episodes is a Slovenian/Polish coproduction produced by Perfo.

SOFIA: Bulgarian director Ilian Djevelekov is in final postproduction with his six-part TV series The Portal, backed by the Bulgarian National Television, with Miramar film serving as executive producer.

PRAGUE: The Czech/Slovak coproduction Grand Prix by popular writer/director Jan Prušinovský, which is set to start filming at the beginning of May 2021, has launched a unique crowdfunding campaign on Donio.

SOFIA: First time director Orlin Milchev completed the shooting of his feature film The Art of Falling, produced by Pavlina Jeleva through Geopoly with the support of the Bulgarian National Film Center. This is the first Bulgarian feature film that started preproduction and completed shooting in the first quarter of 2021.

SKOPJE: The debut feature by Goce Cvetanovski The Day of the Woman / Denot na zenata, produced by White River Films, is currently in postproduction and opting for a physical festival premiere in the autumn/winter of 2021.
