VILNIUS: Producers taking advantage of Lithuania’s eight-year-old Film Tax Incentive received 11.3 m EUR for film production in 2020, according to the Lithuanian Film Centre. International film productions spent almost 27 m EUR in Lithuania during 2020.
FNE asked Milica Božanič how the pandemic has affected foreign and domestic shoots in Serbia and what safety measures have been taken to get production back on course. She also talks about how Serbia is preparing for the challenges the film industry faces in the future.

Logline: The depressed Krysia runs away from a birthday party with a mysterious Majka, who leads her where it can hurt the most.
Synopsis: Krysia, a teenage girl, leaves her home for the first time in weeks after her mother invited her to a party. She does not want to be there, but she always does what others tell her to do. At the party, she runs into Majka. The two girls slip away and set off on a journey that takes on a dizzying pace. The emotionally wounded Majka tests how far she can explore the limits of her sexuality, while Krysia does everything she can to guess her secret. Will this new friendship heal Krysia?
About Director Kamila Tarabura: Born in 1990, director/screenwriter Kamila Tarabura graduated from the Warsaw Film School and The Wajda School. Her short film debut Into the Night won “Best Short Live Action Film Award” at the 36th annual Warsaw International Film Festival, making it eligible for Academy Award consideration. Currently, she is developing her first feature film. She is also working with Nina Lewandowska, the writer of Into the Night, on an original coming of age drama series. Kamila gained her film experience by making short fictional films, commercials and music videos, as well as through her work as an assistant director, which includes the TV series Krew z krwi (Penoza) by Jan Komasa and the film High Life by Claire Denis. She is interested in themes of family and specifically, the mother-daughter relationship. Her cinematic storytelling focuses on an observation of human nature with a keen eye for unique characters and stories.

Czech cinema will enrich this year’s programme of the FIPADOC (January 18-24, 2021) with 4 documentary films and co-productions in four different competitions. Two docs were selected for the Visegrad Focus. In addition, two projects take part in the International Pitches and several Czech professionals participate in industry panels.
The films Shadow Country, Havel and Charlatan have obtained the most nominations for the Czech Lion Awards
Press releases 19-01-2021Today the Czech Film and Television Academy (CFTA) announced the nominations for the 28th annual awards of the Czech Lion. Altogether 190 academics voted about 87 feature films, documentary features, animated and short films as well as television works of art that had fulfilled the statutes of the Czech Lion Awards. The most nominations and also almost the same amounts of them have gone to the films Shadow Country, Havel and Charlatan. From this year on, further categories have been opened to television projects and thanks to that for example the miniseries Actor has obtained 7 nominations. For the first time the CFTA also introduced the categories for animated and short films and here most of the nominations have gone to the young generation of filmmakers who are still studying. Altogether 27 titles will fight for the Czech Lion awards in 19 statutory categories in the final round of voting.

FilmFestival Cottbus: A record for the anniversary in 2020, 2021 as a symbol of European film
Festivals 19-01-2021The 30th FilmFestival Cottbus (FFC) presented 150 films within four competitions and eleven other sections from December 8 to 31, 2020 during its nationwide digital anniversary edition. In conclusion, the festival organisers recorded 13,600 individual accesses to the films of the programme as well as almost 5,600 views of the free digital (live) content, such as talks with filmmakers, panels and talks. The 31st FilmFestival Cottbus will take place from November 2 to 7, 2021.
Five Croatian films to screen in different sections of the 32nd Trieste film Festival, taking place online, 21st – 30th January. In addition, a series of Croatian projects will be presented in industry sub-programme When East Meets West.
Croatian titles at 32nd Trieste Film Festival
Ivan Ramljak’s documentary feature Once Upon A Youth will screen in 32nd Trieste Film Festival documentary film competition. Italian viewers will be able to watch it online, on 24th January. In December 2020, Ramljak’s documentary feature debut won the Jury Grand Prize at Poitiers Film Festival in France and was awarded Best Balkan Documentary at DokuFest, where it had its world premiere last year.
