Twelve documentary projects were presented at Karlovy Vary IFF 2016.
KARLOVY VARY: Czech and US based producer Jeffrey Brown concluded a deal at the Karlovy Vary IFF (running through 9 July) to sell the documentary film Yallah! Underground to Sundance Global.
BUCHAREST: Hungarian Film Commissioner and media czar Andy Vajna, is extending his influence into neighboring CEE countries. The National Audiovisual Council of Romania gave satellite licenses to the Romanian company CEE Broadcasting Co. SRL for the retransmission of eight TV channels. The shareholder of the company is Magyar Broadcasting Co KFT from Hungary, which is connected to Vajna.
KARLOVY VARY: Eight young-career film professionals from Central and Eastern Europe have been selected for the 2016 edition of SOFA, the School for Film Agents taking place in Wroclaw 19-28 August.
KARLOVY VARY: Slovenian director Miha Knific and Croatian producer Sinisa Juricic of Nukleus Film won the very first Eurimages Lab Project Award with their project Perseverance. The cash award of 50,000 EUR was announced at the Karlovy Vary IFF Industry Party on 5 July 2016.
KARLOVY VARY: The Jihlava IDFF doc festival used the occasion of its Docu Talents from the East pitching forum to announce the 2017 participants of its fourth Emerging Producers programme, which takes place during the festival, running 23-30 October 2016.
