After returning from Venice and Toronto, Hungarian director Ildikó Enyedi showed the award-winning Silent Friend to its title character, a 200-year-old tree, that lives in a botanical garden in Southern Hungary. Organized by the film's domestic distributor, Mozinet, the event marked the first time Silent Friend was screened in Hungary. The film was screened from DCP in the castle park in Sellye. For the occasion, cinema equipment was installed in front of the tree, for a few invited guests and about a hundred residents of the village. Before the screening, Mayor Attila Nagy announced that the tree would henceforth be called Silent Friend, and that a copper plaque would soon be unveiled in memory of the filming and the film's worldwide success.
