Baltic Event Co-Production Market 2022 presents 13 projects by mostly award-winning filmmakers
Festivals 20-10-2022The official selection of the Baltic Event Co-Production Market 2022, taking place on 23-24 November showcases a solid state by mostly award-winning filmmakers on topics ranging from personal tragedies and social issues to past and present military conflicts.
PRAGUE: Popular theatre and film actor Josef Somr died at the age of 88. His most known films are Jiří Menzel's Oscar-winning Closely Watched Trains / Ostre sledované vlaky (1966) and Jaromil Jireš’s The Joke / Zert (1969).
Janko the Musician in A Season of Classic Films Programme Organised by ACE in Warsaw
Poland 19-10-2022WARSAW: One of the oldest surviving Polish sound films, Janko the Musician (1930) directed by Ryszard Ordyński, will screen at the Iluzjon Cinema in Warsaw on 26 October 2022. The screening of the film restored by the National Film Archive – Audiovisual Institute (FINA) is part of the 3rd edition of “A Season of Classic Films”, an event organised by the Association des Cinémathèques Européennes (ACE).

Press releases 19-10-2022National Film Archive – Audiovisual Institute cordially invites to the Iluzjon Cinema on 26.10.2022 for a screening of one of the oldest surviving Polish sound films, Janko the Musician, directed by Ryszard Ordyński in 1930. The screening will take place as part of the 3rd Edition of A Season of Classic Films, organised by ACE (Association des Cinémathèques Européennes), which includes screenings of restored films and parallel events organised by 22 European film archives. The film was known until recently in an incomplete version without sound; FINA reconstructed and digitally restored the material and supplemented it with the original soundtrack. Nearly 90 years after its premiere, Janko the Musician will be presented in its original form during the 18th edition of the Silent Movie Festival at the Iluzjon Cinema. Admission to the event is free.
ZAGREB: The ZagrebDox - International Documentary Film Festival is now receiving submissions for its 19th edition set to take place 26 March – 2 April 2023.
NICOSIA: The long documentary The Stray Story: A Dogumentary by Christina Georgiu will be released in Cypriot cinemas at the beginning of November 2022. The independent documentary about stray animals and volunteer work has been shot in the USA, Greece, Romania, Cyprus and UK.
NICOSIA: The Cyprus Film Days International Festival has launched the call for submissions for its 21st edition set to take place in Nicosia and Limassol 21 - 29 April 2023.
LIMASSOL: Daphne by Tonia Mishiali received the First Prize for Best Cypriot Film at the 12th International Short Film Festival of Cyprus, which took place in Limassol 8 – 14 October 2022. The film also won awards for best director and best actress.
SIBIU: Romanian/Hungarian Too Close / Apropierea directed by Botond Püsök won Best Film in the New Voices of the Documentary Competition at the 29th edition of Astra Film Festival, which took place in Sibiu, Romania 9 – 16 October 2022.
BUCHAREST: Fifteen projects from Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Moldova and Ukraine have been selected from among nearly 200 submissions for the 7th edition of the FILM+ programme.
