VILNIUS: The Lithuanian/Czech coproduction Runner by Andrius Blaževičius has been acquired by the London-based sales agent Alief. The sophomore feature by Blaževičius is running in the East of the West Competition at the Karlovy Vary IFF (20-28 August 2021).
KARLOVY VARY: Eastern Promises, the industry section of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, has announced its winners. The 55th edition of the Karlovy Vary IFF will take place 20-28 August 2021.

10th A Sunday in the Country in Wrocław will be held from August 14 till 17 during the 21th New Horizons IFF
Festivals 12-08-2021A collaboration of the New Horizons IFF and the European Film Academy (EFA), the 10th Sunday in the Country will gather a dozen young film critics from Europe for a retreat/workshop. The participants meet for 3 days in a remote country house near Wrocław (Willa Słoneczna on Bystrzyckie Lake at Zagórze Śląskie) where they get to know each other, watch films and discuss them, meet filmmakers brought of the New Horizons and talk about their profession and challenges of the post-pandemic world. They exchange their professional experiences and build international relations.
PODGORICA: Montenegro's coproduction After the Winter / Poslije zime by the Montenegrin writer/director Ivan Bakrač has finished production and will have its world premiere in the East of the West Competition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, running 20-28 August 2021. The film is a coproduction with Croatia and Serbia.
BERLIN: Quo Vadis, Aida? by Jasmila Zbanic, What Do We See When We Look at the Sky by Alexandre Koberidze and Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn by Radu Jude are among the five finalists competing for the FIPRESCI Grand Prix – Best Film of 2021, which will be announced at the opening gala of the San Sebastian FF on 17 September 2021.
