WARSAW: The Rose and The Ring, a 75-minute animated film directed by Zofia Oldak based on the classic English fairy tale of William Makepeace Thackeray is in production at Studio Miniatur Filmowych.

WARSAW: After eight years of preparation, Jan Komasa started shooting his Warsaw Uprising film City 44 on 11 May 2013 in Warsaw.

WARSAW: The third part of a 26-episode series slated for broadcast in Poland and Argentina, Hip-Hip & Hurra, is in the final stage of production. 

BRATISLAVA: Slovak producer/director Juraj Kilián debuts with Intrigues, a coproduction of the four Visegrad countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia) mainly financed by the Visegrad Fund. 

WARSAW: Poland’s Braidmade Films teams up with Germany’s 27 Films Productions to co-produce The Fox, a feature film based on the D.H. Lawrence book and directed by Matthias Luthardt.

WARSAW: New Blood (Nowa krew), a documentary about Polish villagers who emigrate to Iceland will go into preproduction in summer 2013. 

WARSAW: One Man Show, the story of struggling 33-year-old actor Marcin Sitek, is midway through a 16 month shoot. 

WARSAW: Blue Notebook, a documentary directed by Natasza Ziółkowska-Kurczuk about 20^th century classical Polish composer Witold Lutosławski, is currently in production.

PLZEN: Producer Ales Hudsky, attending the Finale Plzen film festival for the presentation of upcoming Czech films on 26 April 2013, told FNE that his international coproduction has moved into postproduction following the completion of final filming in Mexico in mid-April.

WASHINGTON: Polish director Władysław Pasikowski began filming the final segment of his spy biopic feature film Jack Strong on 21 April 2013 in Washington, D.C.

WARSAW: Krzysztof Zanussi (Persona Non Grata, 2005) has started a 30 day filming schedule on The Foreign Body (Obce ciało), also known as Inner Voice (Głos wewnętrzny).

VILNIUS: The Lithuanian feature film Non Present Time (Nesamasis laikas) directed by Mykolas Vildžiūnas is now in postproduction. 

LUBLIN: Jacek Lusinski (the screenwriter and director of Piksele, 2009) is in preproduction with the feature film Carte Blanche. The film’s cast includes outstanding Polish actors Andrzej Chyra (In the Name of…) and Arkadiusz Jakubik (Drogowka).

WARSAW: A cross-genre documentary series based on the international bestseller Gottland (European book of the year 2009) by Mariusz Szczygieł is in production as a seven-episode series directed by seven documentary filmmakers.

KATOWICE: Polish filmmaker and visual artist Teresa Czepiec is developing a documentary that explores the life and workings of a major residential block in Katowice.

WARSAW: Polish cinematographer Jacek Petrycki (Offsiders, Europa Europa) and screenwriter Krystyna Krauze are in production with Returns of Agnieszka H., a multi-layered documentary about Oscar-nominated Agnieszka Holland’s youth, her years at Prague’s FAMU film school and her fascination with the Czech culture.
