BUCHAREST: Tudor Giurgiu's second feature, Of Snails and Men/Despre oameni şi melci, is inspired by true events, even if they may sound quite odd. In 2002, Reuters published an news report stating that the workers from a Romanian factory proposed donating their sperm in order to obtain funds to save their factory from being privatized.

BRATISLAVA: Young Slovak director Adam Oľha (Martin-Lisbon) is in the final stage of production with his second feature documentary, The New Life of a Family Album. Based on a long-term observation and shot over the period of three years, the movie is a portrait of the author's own family.

BUCHAREST: Everybody in Our Family, the second feature from Romanian director Radu Jude (The Happiest Girl in the World/Cea mai fericită fată din lume) starts shooting in 15 June 2011 producer Ada Solomon told FNE. Described as a war movie set in an appartment, Everybody in Our Family bears a resemblance to a short film Jude made in 2007, Alexandra. The approach will be a realistic one, as in all of Jude's films.

In Amsterdam, 1942, Walter Süskind, a Jew, befriended SS officer Ferdinand Aus der Funten in an attempt to save a group of children from the death camp. He managed to save almost one thousand until he himself was caught.

TALLINN: The Estonian NGO Cinema Bus (www.kinobuss.ee), which tours the country with film and animation workshops and screens films in rural areas, has initiated an ambitious project to produce a feature film with 10,000 volunteers from across the country. The project, defined as a sci-fi documentary, is a mixture of guerilla film-making and community activism and is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Estonian film in 2012.

PRODUCTION: A Night Too Young Goes into Postproduction
PRAGUE: Slovenian director Olmo Omerzu wrapped the shoot on the Czech-Slovenian feature film A Night Too Young (Prilis mlada noc) in late May, and the film has now moved into the postproduction phase. Producer Jiri Konecny told FNE that the film, which will be a low-budget production coming in at under 200,000 euros, will be released in early 2012.

Katarzyna Rosłaniec, the director of Mall Girls, is shooting Baby Blues on the topic of teen pregnancy. The shoot for the film started in the second half of May in Warsaw and will last through the end of June 2011.

PRODUCTION: DonT Stop Begins Production
PRAGUE: DonT Stop, a Czech-Slovak coproduction directed by Richard Řeřicha and produced by Evolution Films (www.evolutionfilms.cz), began a six week shoot on 7 May 2011. The 800,000 euro film is scheduled to complete production on 14 June.

ZAGREB: Filming of the feature crime drama Flower Square (working title) by Krsto Papić wrapped on 12 May 2011. The shoot began on 10 April, and the film was shot in its entirety on locations in Zagreb.
