RIGA: Writer/director Aik Karapetian continues to work on genres not typical for the Latvian cinema. After the successful horror picture The Man in the Orange Jacket, produced by Lokomotive Productions, Karapetian is preparing a thriller called Firstborn/Pirmdzimtais.

SOFIA: Bulgarian director/scriptwriter Ivan Cherkelov is in postproduction with Family Relics, a drama unfolding through three intertwined subplots, which is set to be released at the end of 2015.
PRODUCTION: Damian Nenadic Shooting Days of Madness
ZAGREB: Croatian director Damian Nenadic is shooting Days of Madness, a documentary about patients suffering from mental disorders and the state of medical care in Croatia. Maja and Mladen are suffering from different mental disorders, they do not consider themselves mentally ill. Unlike other ‘patients’ mainly following strict medical advice that doesn't actually help them much, Maja and Mladen take their lives into their own hands.
PRODUCTION: Ivars Tontegode shooting Knutification
RIGA: Director Ivars Tontegode is shooting a biographical documentary feature Knutification/Nepareizais about the life of Knuts Skujenieks, a poet who survived the Soviet prison camps and was later to become one of the most influential figures in Latvian society. The film will be produced by Pomegrande Productions.
PRODUCTION: Dearest Sister Brings Estonia, Laos and France Together
VIENTIANE: Oree Films embarks on Estonia's first ever co-production with Laos and France on the set of Dearest Sister, a supernatural drama set in Laos’ capital Vientiane. The film is budgeted at 300,000 euros and will be shot in late Spring 2015, with the release date set in 2016.
PRODUCTION: Karin Babinska to Direct Czech-Dutch Coproduction
PRAGUE: Rick McCallum and Martin Šebík from Film United, the Prague-based company which coproduced the TV series Borgia, have announced that their new project, Following the Dream/Za sny, will be a Czech-Dutch coproduction. They are planning to shoot next year.
PRODUCTION: Paul Negoescu Develops Two Projects Simultaneously
BUCHAREST: Paul Negoescu is developing Never Let It Go, which was supported the Romanian National Film Center, and also an independent feature Two Lottery Tickets. He doesn’t know which one he will shoot first.
PRODUCTION: Constantin Popescu Preps Pororoca
BUCHAREST: The new feature by Constantin Popescu, Proroca tells the story of a couple who lose their daughter in a park. The writer/director told FNE that he wrote the script especially for the actor Bogdan Dumitrache.
PRODUCTION: Cristian Mungiu Develops New Project
BUCHAREST: After Beyond the Hills (2012) Cristian Mungiu's new project will deal with parenting and focus on a male character. The producer/writer/director hopes to shoot it in 2015 "Ideally while there are still leaves on the trees", he told FNE.
PRODUCTION: Nightlife by Damjan Kozole Starts Postproduction
LJUBLJANA: In February, award-winning Slovenian filmmaker Damjan Kozole finished shooting his tenth feature film Nightlife, which has now entered postproduction.

RIGA: Viktors Buda and his team at VFS Films are shooting Era of Dance / Dejulaikmets, a music documentary on Rave, Dance and DJ cultures that bridged West Germany and the Soviet Union in the late 1980s, with Riga caught in the middle.
PRODUCTION: Juliet and Alfa Romeo in Postproduction
LJUBLJANA: Blaz Zavrsnik is in postproduction with his second feature, Juliet and Alfa Romeo/Julija in Alfa Romeo, a love story set to be released by its Slovenian distributor Fivia in autumn 2015.
PRODUCTION: Adonis Florides Shooting Rosemarie
NICOSIA: Cypriot director Adonis Florides is in production on his new film Rosemarie which is currently shooting in Cyprus. The film is supposed to be finished late 2015.

VILNIUS: A tragicomic drama with flourishes of magical realism Miracle/Stebuklas written and directed by Eglė Vertelytė is in production.
PRODUCTION: The Ancient Forest in Postproduction
VILNIUS: Feature documentary The Ancient Forest by Mindaugas Survila (The Field of Magic, Monoklis Studio) is currently in postproduction with the premiere set for the end of 2016.
