SARAJEVO: Six drama series from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina will take part in the Avant Premiere Series programme within the CineLink – the 28th Sarajevo Film Festival (12 – 19 August 2022). Danis Tanović, Aida Begić and Sonja Prosenc are among the directors of these series.

WROCLAW: See You Friday Robinson by Mitra Farahani has received the Grand Prix at the 22nd New Horizons International Film Festival, which took place in Wrocław 21 – 31 July and will continue online till 7 August 2022. The Slovak/Czech/Ukrainian coproduction 107 Mothers by Peter Kerekes received the Audience Award.

WROCLAW: The City of Wrocław has signed a 10-year lease with Futureal Investment Partners and made the New Horizons Cinema available to the New Horizons Association till June 2032. Futureal Investment Partners will renovate the cinema and the building from August 2022 to May 2023.

PRAGUE: Planet Prague / Planeta Praha by Jan Hošek will be released by Aerofilms in Czech cinemas on 4 August 2022. The nature documentary is a sequel to one of the most successful Czech documentaries Planet Czechia / Planeta Česko by Marian Polak.

SARAJEVO: Ten feature films and two long documentaries including projects from Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Hungary, Montenegro, Croatia, Georgia and Bosnia and Herzegovina will be showcased at the CineLink Work in Progress, during the Sarajevo Film Festival (12 – 19 August 2022).

The City of Wrocław, Futureal Investment Partners – the new owner of the Wratislavia Tower building and the New Horizons Association agreed on the future of the New Horizons Cinema. This means that the movie theater and its main events – the New Horizons International Film Festival and the American Film Festival will stay in Wrocław at least until 2032. The modernization of the cinema and the entire building will start this summer.

BUCHAREST: Early career filmmakers from Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria, Republic of Moldova and Ukraine can still apply to the 7th edition (2022-2023) of FILM+, the support programme for independent low budget film productions. The deadline is 5 August 2022.

VENICE: Cristina Grosan’s feature film Ordinary Failures has been selected for the 19th edition of Giornate degli Autori 2022, while Darkening by Ondřej Moravec and Sorella’s Story by Peter Hegedus will take part in the Competition of Venice Immersive.

WROCŁAW: Polish Days, the industry event hosted by New Horizons IFF, has announced its winners. A total of 22 Polish projects were showcased 24 - 26 July 2022 during the 22nd New Horizons International Film Festival (21 - 31 July 2022).
