SKOPJE: Macedonian TV revenues reached in 2016 their lowest point in the last five years. Commercial and public broadcasters generated total revenues of approximately 25 m EUR / 1,540,190,000 MKD, representing a drop of 50% compared to 2015.

SKOPJE: Macedonian Government named Gorjan Tozija acting director of the Macedonian Film Agency on 10 August 2017. He will be replacing Mimi Gjorgoska Ilievska, who was appointed in November 2015.

SKOPJE: Macedonian director Kristijan Risteski is developing his debut feature Snow White Dies in the End / Snezana umira na krajot. The project has been selected for the CineLink Co-Production Market, set to take place from 14 to 17 August 2017 within the 23rd Sarajevo Film Festival (11-18 August 2016).

SKOPJE: The first season of the Macedonian series In Treatment / Na terapija has entered postproduction, with the premiere set on Sitel TV for 4 September 2017. The series is produced by Robert Naskov through Macedonia’s Kino Oko.

BELGRADE: Dogs Bark, but the Caravans Move On / Psi laju, vetar nosi, a brand new TV series directed by Jelena Bajic-Jocic and written by Rados Bajic (known for the long-running series Selo gori, a baba se češlja) has entered postproduction. 

SKOPJE: Second season of the popular TV series Prespav, which was shot from 8 to 30 May 2017, will be aired on TV Telma in autumn 2017. Macedonian non-governmental organisation OXO is producing.

BELGRADE: Serbian director Raško Miljković’s debut feature Which Hunters / Zloginje is currently in postproduction, with the release set for February 2018. This Serbian/Macedonian coproduction is a children film shot from May to the end of June 2017.

BELGRADE: Serbian director Dragan Marinković is in postproduction with his fifth feature film, Leeches / Pijavice, set for release in 2018. The film is a Serbian/Croatian/Macedonian coproduction and is based on a book under the same title by David Albahari, who also penned the screenplay together with Marinković.

SKOPJE: The Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE has acquired TV rights to the Russian/Lithuanian/Macedonian coproduction Kharms / Хармс by Ivan Bolotnikov from ANT!PODE Sales & Distribution. The film will have its Finish premiere in 2018.

SKOPJE: Skopje based researcher, cultural manager and culture critic Robert Alagjozovski was appointed as the Minister of Culture under new Prime Minister Zoran Zaev. He succeeds Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska, who ran the Ministry of Culture since 2008.
