BELGRADE: Next to Us / Pored nas, a sequel to the high school hit Next to Me / Pored mene (2015) will be shot in spring 2018 and released in early 2019. The sequel will be directed by Stevan Filipović, who directed Next to Me.

RIGA: Director Aigars Grauba is currently in postproduction with English language historical drama The Pagan King, starring British actor James Blurr and Swedish actor Edvin Erre. Made with a budget of 3 m EUR, the film produced by Platforma Filma and supported by the National Film Centre of Latvia is one of the most expensive Latvian films to date.

WARSAW: Oscar nominated Polish filmmaker Bartosz Konopka has just finished shooting The Mute, a Polish/Belgian coproduction starring Krzysztof Pieczyński and Karol Bernacki.

LJUBLJANA: Metod Pevec’s Slovenian/Serbian/Macedonian coproduction I Am Frank started shooting in the small Slovenian town of Tržič on 23 November 2017. Pevec is well-known for his multiple-award-winning drama Beneath Her Window (Vertigo, 2003), as well as for his remarkable documentaries Home (Vertigo, 2015) and The Alexandrians (Vertigo, 2011).

LJUBLJANA: Goran Vojnović is in preparation with drama Once Were Humans / Nekoč so bili ljudje about two guys who get involved in human trafficking. Vojnović is a renowned Slovenian screenwriter and director, who gained recognition with Chefurs Raus! (2013, Arsmedia). His new film is a Slovenian/Croatian/Bosnian/Italian/Czech coproduction.

WARSAW: Michał Kwieciński is currently shooting the romantic comedy Love Is Everything, a coproduction between TVN and Akson Studio. Michał Kwieciński is a renowned Polish producer and director and the owner of Akson Studio, one of the biggest production companies in Poland.

ESTONIA: Lotte and the Lost Dragons / Lotte ja kadunud lohed, the third full length Estonian/Latvian coproduction featuring Estonia’s most popular animated character, is in production for release in 2019 in the frame of Estonia’s centennial film programme.

BELGRADE: Eleven years after his first film, Miloš Avramović is shooting South Wind / Južni vetar, his sophomore feature. The film is an action thriller with strong social messages for the young in Serbia today.

WARSAW: Polish distribution company NEXT FILM is branching out with the production of its second feature film, Successful Woman, a romantic comedy directed by Robert Wichrowski.

WARSAW: Aleksander Pietrzak is working on his feature debut, comedy Juliusz produced by Giant Films, makers of Polish 2016 box office hit Planet Single by Slovenian director Mitja Okorn (Gigant Films in coproduction with TVN).

BRATISLAVA: The political drama By a Sharp Knife / Ostrým nožom completed its shooting at the end of September 2017 and is in postprodution. The film will be released in 2018.

WARSAW: Władysław Pasikowski is directing the third part of the Pitbull crime trilogy after Patryk Vega decided not to direct the last installment of his box office hit project.

PRAGUE: Oscar nominated director and producer Ondřej Trojan wrapped filming for his historical thriller Toman, which had 38 days of shooting spread across a year.

LJUBLJANA: The family drama To the Stars and Back / Do zvezd in nazaj by Marko Šantić completed shooting at the end of October 2017 and has entered postproduction. Šantić won the Best directing Vesna award in 2013 for his first feature Seduce Me (2013, RTV Slovenija).

BELGRAD: The first Serbian genuine science fiction film, Erdelezi Rising by Lazar Bodroža, is in postproduction and its authors are eyeing a world premiere at one of the major world film festivals this winter. Erdelezi Rising marks yet another local production supported by Film Center Serbia.

WARSAW: Ikea Retail has commissioned and will sponsor the first Polish product placement mini-series, Dom pełen zmian / House full of changes, which will be aired by Polish private broadcaster Polsat.
