SOFIA: Bulgarian Director Stanislav Donchev is in postproduction with his third feature film Letters from Antarctica, a deep psychological drama about a single mother incapable of confessing to her eight year-old son that his father died in a car accident. The film stars Bulgarian famous actress Irmena Chichikova.

BUCHAREST: Iura Luncaşu is currently shooting Do It or Shut Up/Faci sau taci, a comedy he is also producing. His previous comedy Ghinionistul, was the Romanian film with the best box office in 2017 (223,840 EUR / 1,007,284 RON gross). Former artistic gymnast and double Olympic champion Sandra Izbaşa is making her first steps in cinema.

TBILISI: Directors Dato Abramishvili and Giorgi Gogichaishvili are currently in preproduction with their debut feature Inga, which will be a coproduction between Georgia, Luxembourg and Lithuania set for shooting in September 2018.

SKOPJE: Macedonian director Igor Aleksov is currently shooting his debut feature Lena and Vladimir, which has been supported by the Macedonian Film Agency. The film is a 100% domestic production.

BELGRADE: USA- based French director Alexandre Aja has just started shooting his new feature film Crawl in the capital city of Serbia with Work in Progress company servicing. Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert are producing through Ghost House Pictures together with Alexandre Aja for Paramount Pictures. The film will be entirely shot in Belgrade.

WROCŁAW: Ewa Puszczyńska is developing Tomasz Wasilewski new drama Fools/Głupcy (working title), which will be a Polish/Romanian coproduction together with the Romanian Ada Solomon and lensed by Romanian Oleg Mutu. Producer of Oscar winning Ida talked to FNE during 9th NH Studio+ (27-30 July 2018) taking place at the 18th New Horizons IFF in Wrocław.

SOFIA: Bulgarian director Kostadin Bonev is completing postproduction on his new feature film Away From the Shore (aka Wolves around Us). This Bulgarian/Ukrainian coproduction is a personal interpretation of the clash between creative people and censorship during communism.

BELGRADE: Belgrade Escape by Wang Zhongyan, the first Serbian/Chinese coproduction, started shooting in Belgrade on 26 July 2018. The film is a coproduction between Chinese Fujian Broken Films and Serbian Emote Films, and is budgeted at around 1.5 m EUR.

PRAGUE: Czech/Slovak coproduction The Glass Room, directed by Julius Ševčík, has wrapped shooting. The film stars acclaimed European and Czech actors. Renowned Polish editor Jaroslaw Kaminski (Ida and Cold War, both produced by Opus Film) is editing, while Oscar-nominated Spanish composer Javier Navarrete (Pan’s Labyrinth) will do the score.

ZAGREB: A new feature film by Croatian director Danilo Šerbedžija, Teresa 33,wrapped shooting in Split on 22 July 2018. 

TALLINN: Maria’s Paradise a new project by the acclaimed Finnish director Zaida Bergrot is currently shooting in Estonia. This Finnish/Estonian coproduction is based on the real events of Åkerblom's movement, a religious sect which became notorious in the 1920s Finland.

ZAGREB: American production The Islander directed by Dom Mazuran and Zoran Lisinac was shot in Croatia and Serbia from May till early July 2018. The film benefits from the incentives schemes in both Croatia and Serbia.

LJUBLJANA: Slovenian director Andrej Košak will start shooting his fourth feature film All Against All / Vsi proti vsem in September 2018. This Slovenian/Macedonian coproduction is a political thriller set in an imaginary small town under the Alps.

BUCHAREST: HBO Europe and Germany’s TNT Serie wrapped shooting on the six-episode series Hackerville, directed by Igor Cobileanski and Anca Miruna Lăzărescu.

SOFIA: Award-winning Bulgarian director Peter Popzlatev is completing postproduction on his new feature film Time Is Ours. Inspired by Vladimir Zarev’s novel Devastation, it is another of the director’s personal looks at Bulgaria’s post-totalitarian reality. His typical highly stylised cinematography is underlining a tense criminal intrigue.

TBILISI: Marisa Romanov, an American series created by Miranda K. Spigener-Sapon and produced by SPT France and Noirtainment for Amazon Prime Video, will be filmed in Georgia and Los Angeles starting around 1 September 2018. It is a beneficiary of the tax incentives scheme.
