BRATISLAVA: Slovakia celebrated the Tiger Award for My Dog Killer, a Czech-Slovak coproduction from Slovak director Mira Fornay, and the first Slovak film to compete at Rotterdam.
PRAGUE: Four Suns directed by Bohodan Slama (www.negativ.cz) topped the nominations for the Czech Lion Awards, with 12 nominations, one in each of the categories for which it was eligible.

The public programme events of the 13th Istanbul Biennial will be held between February and November 2013 with the aim of examining the ways in which publicness can be reclaimed as an artistic and political tool in the context of global financial imperialism and local social fracture. The public programme, "Public Alchemy", will be organised under the co-curatorship of Fulya Erdemci, Curator of the 13th Istanbul Biennial, and Dr. Andrea Phillips who is Reader in Fine Art in the Department of Art, Goldsmiths, University of London, and Director of the Doctoral Research Programmes in Fine Art and Curating.

TBILISI: Epic, a UK/German/Russian/Georgian coproduction directed by Ben Hopkins, began principal photography in Tbilisi in late January.
