ZAGREB: Anja Kofmel’s Swiss/Croatian coproduction Chris the Swiss began production in Zagreb mid-June 2015. This is the first animated film benefiting from the incentives scheme launched by HAVC in 2012. 

WARSAW: TVN has started producing Aż po sufit, the Polish version of the Australian series Packed to the Rafters. Academy Award nominated Bartosz Konopka and Julia Kolberger are directing.

SOFIA: In his new feature, Losers, the famous actor/director/writer Ivailo Hristov follows a teenage group of friends from a small town on the eve of the visit of some famous pop musicians.

PRAGUE: Director/scriptwriter Marta Nováková is in postproduction with 8 Heads of Madness, a feature based on the life of the Russian poet Anna Alexandrovna Barkova (1901-1976), who spent 22 years in the Soviet Gulags.

KRAKOW: Marie Curie, a biographical costume drama about Maria Skłodowska-Curie, is being shot at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.

BRATISLAVA: Slovak producer/writer/director Marko Skop is in postproduction with the dramatic feature Eva Nova starring the legendary Slovak actress Emilia Vasaryova.

PRAGUE: Czech director Vladimir Michalek is in postproduction with a comedy, Holidays in Provence, scheduled for release in September 2015.

PRAGUE: Producer Adam Dvorak of Movie is partnering with coproducer Czech TV on a two-part debut crime story, Gangster Ka and Gangster Ka: African.

RIGA: Director Māris Martinsons will begin shooting a Latvian/Estonian/Japanese feature length modern-day fairytale, Magic Kimono / Maģiskais kimono, in August 2015. The film is a coproduction between Krukfilms in Latvia, OREE Films in Estonia, and Loaded in Japan.

PRAGUE: Dawson Films and public broadcaster Czech TV are partnering on a rare Czech-Austrian coproduction, Deckname Holec, directed by Austria’s Franz Novotny and based on a true story by Czech New Wave filmmaker Jan Nemec.

WARSAW: Polish public broadcaster TVP has commissioned a 13-episode season of Bodo, a costume drama series about a legendary Polish actor. The executive production company is Akson Studio.

LJUBLJANA: Slovenian director Janez Burger's drama Ivan is in its final stage of preproduction for a fall 2015 shoot.

BRATISLAVA: Slovak director/producer Katarina Kerekesova is working on The Websters, a 13-part animated TV series about a family of spiders for children and parents.

SOFIA: Award-winning Bulgarian director Konstantin Bojanov will go into production with his second film in July 2015, I Want to Be Like You, a Danish/UK/Belgian/Bulgarian coproduction which features an international cast that includes Klaus Maria Brandauer.

SOFIA: Bulgarian director Antoniy Donchev is in postproduction with his first feature film The Woman of My Life coproduced by Bulgarian Ars, Macedonia’s KT Film & Media, Romania’s Peter Film Production, Hawena Films and the Kurdistan Regional Government, Iraq with the support of the Bulgarian National Film Center.

BRATISLAVA: The first Slovak film, the feature debut OUT (Vychladnutie) by FAMU graduate György Kristóf, has been selected for the 11th Cinéfondation L’Atelier, taking place as part of the Cannes IFF.
