FNE at Ji.hlava IDFF 2021: Panel Discussion: Visegrad Accelerator: Producers on a Roller Coaster
Czech Republic 02-11-2021JIHLAVA: During IDFF Jihlava’s panel discussion VISEGRAD ACCELERATOR: PRODUCERS ON A ROLLER COASTER four producers from four Visegrad countries met to discuss changes in the film industry. They talked about Covid accelerated changes that were already underway in Visegrad countries and to what extent international cooperation and creating new digital platforms are necessary for the future.
BUDAPEST: Arica by Lars Edman and William Johansson Kalén won the best film award at the 18th edition of the Verzio Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, which concluded its in person segment on 14 November and continues online from 15 to 21 November 2021. The Special Prize went to the Czech film Brotherhood.
VALLETTA: Malta’s National Book Council (NBC) has awarded its 2021 Film Adaptation Fund to production company Take Two, who will be producing an adaptation of the Maltese novel Castillo written by Clare Azzopardi. The film will be directed by Abigail Mallia (Limestone Cowboy).
LJUBLJANA: Murina, the Camera d’Or winning debut feature by Croatian director Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović, screens in the main competition of the Ljubljana IFF (LIFFe), which runs 10 – 21 November 2021.

IDFA in Amsterdam

From November 21st to 23rd, Europa Distribution will hold a workshop dedicated to the distribution of documentaries at the IDFA - International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam. Around 25 independent distributors, all members of the European Network of Independent Film Distributors and Publishers, will participate in a session organised in collaboration with IDFA as part of their Industry Programme.
Verzió International Human Rights Film Festival (Budapest, Hungary), Fipadoc International Documentary Film Festival (Biarritz, France) and Biografilm festival (Bologna, Italy) are launching a new network, Places to B – Biarritz, Bologna, Budapest.
The three festivals, all with female leadership, share an interest in contemporary European creative documentary films and are committed to managing their activities transparently, and in supporting each other in producing sustainable and diverse international film festival events.

ZAGREB: The Staffroom / Zbornica, the debut feature of Sonja Tarokić, screens in the main competition of the Zagreb Film Festival, which runs 14 – 21 November 2021. The film produced by Ankica Jurić Tilić from Kinorama won the Ecumenical Jury Prize and the Special Jury Prize when it premiered at the Karlovy Vary IFF.
